Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel

Myself and my two boys (12 and 7) have just spent 10 nights here in room 2080 and loved it! All those moaning about their rooms, you get what you pay for and it is clear some rooms don’t have balconies when you book, that’s not a fault of the hotel. We booked a V Level room and were treated like royalty when we arrived, with a sea / sunset view room which was cleaned every day and we had added extras by the pool. We felt safe, had lots to do visiting the other hotels, beaches and beach clubs on site and used the “shuttle bus” (golf cart) from Reception to get there which is great for little legs! We could always get a sun bed at any hotel / beach and loved the swim up bar and water slides at the Tirena Hotel, which we used as our daily pool. Maro world is great for trampolines, sports activities, gaming and the kids disco. The square outside the Tirena hotel has great entertainment too and the beach at the President Hotel is a blue flag beach with jet ski’s and water sports which we loved!

We went on a day trip to Bosnia and the Kravice Waterfall, to Dubrovnik Old Town (the tuk tuk tour from the hotel is great) and a speedboat tour swimming in the blue and green caves whilst visiting Sunj island’s SANDY beach. Ubers are way cheaper than hotel taxi’s to get around too and take less than 5 minutes to arrive wherever you are, although most drivers don’t speak which is odd at first.

Things that in my opinion could be improved in the hotel are providing water in plastic bottles each day as opposed to glass, so you can take them to the pool and beach because the hotel shop doesn’t sell water either (or any drinks). You need to go to the shops / mini markets near the Tirena hotel for that but the fridge is so packed with room service drinks and snacks there’s not a lot of room to store those either. I’d personally have preferred an empty fridge I could actually use for my children.

Half Board Dinner should replicate breakfast with the coffee machine and juice / water machines - I had read drinks are expensive before I arrived but they really are and an Aperol is cheaper in Dubrovnik Old Town!!The service for drinks in the buffet restaurant is also ridiculously slow and they bring you the bill which you wait 15 minutes + for, then you have to wait again for the card machine. Maybe just bring both at the same time?! The food is lovely but very repetitive so good to mix up with restaurants in the Old Town, Lapad and on site near marrow world - the Chinese restaurant and Pivnica’s meat platter were fab!

All in all a great experience which we would recommend to other families! Thank you for having us. x

Really enjoyed my stay here up until a member of staff at breakfast lied to me about putting cheese into my omelette, which meant my last day was spent horrendously ill. I specifically asked 4x for no cheese, and made it clear. When asked a final time, she said there is no cheese it in. Half way through I noticed there was. I wouldn’t have mind waiting for another. Everyone makes mistakes but it’s the fact she lied and hoped I wouldn’t realise. I think dietary requirements should be taken extremely seriously and now thanks to this member of staff my final day and my health was hugely affected. When I made the hotel aware. They just said sorry, and thanks for letting them know. To reiterate my previous point. Dietary requirements should be taken extremely seriously and I don’t believe anyone in this hotel does.

Really lovely hotel. Staff were wonderful! V level upgrade definitely worth it for quieter dining and nice pool and beach side facilities. We were made to feel super special throughout the stay.
