Quietly situated in the picturesque Lapad Bay and overlooking the azure Adriatic Sea, this luxurious hotel enjoys one of the best positions in Dubrovnik. The city centre with its historical and cultural sights is less than 4 km away and three bus routes take guests within a 10-minute ride to the old town. The airport is at 23 km from the hotel. All guest rooms have modern amenities for a pleasant stay, and most of them include a balcony with stunning sea views. Guests might enjoy the varied dining offer at the hotel, which includes a restaurant and a lounge bar, apart from two chic bars where guests can admire the breath-taking views with a cocktail or a glass of fine wine. Guests can also relax at a wonderful wellness and spa centre with an indoor and an outdoor pool.
We’ve had a thoroughly lovely stay at Hotel Kompas Dubrovnik and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful, relaxing and beautiful in Dubrovnik.
The hotel is in a stunning location overlooking Sunset Beach in Lapad, and it has a wonderfully chilled, relaxed atmosphere. We visited in October, so it was relatively quiet, although there were a few conferences taking place during our stay. It never felt noisy or overcrowded.
🌊 Superior Sea View Room — absolutely worth it!
If you stay here, pay the extra for a Superior Sea View Room. It is worth every penny. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a beautiful balcony with completely uninterrupted sea views. Sitting out there and watching the sun go down was one of the highlights of our stay.
The entire hotel is exceptionally clean, and the rooms are serviced every day. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful without ever being overbearing, which creates a really lovely atmosphere.
Room service was also excellent , everything was prompt and very well done.
🧖♀️ Facilities
The hotel has a lovely spa area with a sauna and steam room, both of which we enjoyed. There are also indoor and outdoor pools. One warning if you’re visiting in October: the pools are absolutely freezing! 😂 We weren’t brave enough to spend much time in either.
There are also plenty of great restaurants within easy walking distance.
We particularly recommend Trinity and Vita Neapolitana , both had fantastic food and were excellent value for money.
There’s also a little ice cream place immediately to the right as you leave the hotel on the seaside entrance, which serves lovely ice cream. We’d give the one up to the left as you leave the hotel a miss!
🚌 Getting into Dubrovnik Old Town
Getting into the Old Town couldn’t be easier. The number 6 bus takes around 10 minutes and drops you right outside Pile Gate, one of the main entrances to the Old Town and city walls.
Ask for a return ticket as it’s cheaper, at around €3. It’s an easy and convenient way to get into the city without having to worry about taxis or parking.
And Dubrovnik itself is absolutely beautiful.
For food in the Old Town, we had a fantastic meal at Castello. It’s a little more expensive, as is much of Dubrovnik, but the food was exceptional.
We also ate at Incredible India, which is tucked away on a small, rather dimly lit street and looks very unassuming from the outside , but don’t let that put you off! The food was really, really good, and the service was excellent.
Another highly rated restaurant we were hoping to try was Taj Mahal, although unfortunately we didn’t manage to eat there during this trip.

We absolutely loved Hotel Kompas. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful atmosphere, immaculate rooms, fantastic sea views, excellent service and a really convenient location for exploring Dubrovnik.
If you’re considering staying here, we’d definitely recommend it ,and we’d particularly recommend upgrading to a Superior Sea View Room.
It was the perfect place to come back to after a day exploring Dubrovnik: relaxed, comfortable, peaceful and with that incredible view.

Very nice hotel, clean good facilities Spa etc. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
A hotel with amazing views over the Lapad bay and some superb staff who really do look after you well! Stayed B&B keeping the option to go out in the evening. Breakfast was a buffet but always fresh and plenty. Staff keep you topped up with tea and coffee so you don’t have to chase across the room to refresh. In breakfast Ivan was amazing at getting everything right along with his amazing team. We ate in 3 times during our stay. I would say the menu could be a little samey but the food was really good and again fabulous service. A young man named Justin looked after us and I would urge the hotel to look after him as he is a star in the making. Great views and wonderful walks around the peninsula made our stay. Along the path are numerous places to get into the sea and cool down which are so photogenic it’s ridiculous! Visit and enjoy the wonderful hotel and its surroundings. We will be back!
Hotel lovely, location great and staff very friendly and proficient. Breakfast choice great and hotel kept really clean. The only negative was half way through our week the arrival of a work event, mainly young men and the pool bar area which had been peaceful became a bit of a party for them for three days - a group of men sitting in the pool drinking beer at 10am is a bit off putting for other guests.
Lovely peaceful hotel until a large group of mainly young, loud men arrived on a work event. The pool area then became ‘their’ party, drinking from 10am ish even in the pool which made it intimidating for a woman in her own to go in. Spoilt what had been a lovely break until then
