Just returned from a 10 night stay at President Valamar. A friendly welcome from reception staff who explained where the facilities were located etc. The hotel is located nearby a few excellent restaurants (5 minute walk) and shops for essentials. Small shop in hotel also. Bus stop helpfully just over the road where you can get into Lapad/Old Town for exploring (number 6). Regular buses but can become busy. Room was spacious with plenty storage space. A treat to have Rituals toiletries. Everything you’d need in the room, coffee making facilities, fridge, hair dryer etc. Comfy bed and excellent shower. Gorgeous outlook from balcony and great having sunbeds. Our room on the 7th floor got the sun from around 2pm. Areas of the room were a little tired and could do with being updated. All areas clean and the housekeepers are lovely and polite. Breakfast was of good quality with a huge selection. Never had to wait for service/ a table even at peak times. The bar area is a delight, comfy seating, perfect for watching the sunset. Nice atmosphere on an evening. Could do with a better draft beer than Stella. A local beer would have been nice. Staff attentive and so polite. Pool and beach areas both had plenty of loungers and parasols. The staff do go round collecting unattended towels, which in our eyes is a very good thing! Both pool and beach areas again a little tired. Some parasols etc need replacing. Overall a lovely hotel. Would have been 5* if it hadn’t have appeared so tired in places.
We arrived here after a weeks charter around Croatia, we were looking forward to some R&R. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely professional woman whose name began with V (I’m sorry I can’t remember your full name but I have a memory issue) anyway, all started well. V advised us that the rooms were not ready yet, no surprise as we had turned up at 10.30am. Regardless, V ensured that we felt comfortable in our surroundings whilst we waited for our rooms. Approximately 12.30 I approached reception (as I had been advised to do by reception) but this time I was met by a very rude male who shouted ”what do you think I can do? You think I have 50 rooms ready? Come back at 2pm!) I was really shocked by this because all previous interactions had been positive, moreover there was absolutely no need for this behaviour. My review of this hotel would have been much better had i not encountered this individual and I would have let the following go .. however.. Upon arrival at the room, the tap was pushing out sludge, the bathroom door would not lock, the headboards are worn out 🤢 Out twin room consisted of a double bed wit two songjr duvets on top.. awkward to say the least. Overall it’s well overdue for an update/upgrade. We are told on arroval that our rooms had been upgraded …. I dread to think what this was an upgrade from 🤦🏻♀️
Fabulous quality family holiday to Dubrovnik. The Hotel is excellent. The facilities perfect and the staff were All exceptional. Special shout out to Tomy and his Team at the Pool Bar. It's the extra mile that makes all the difference. Thank you all.
This is a lovely hotel next to a gravelly beach with the most gorgeous, warm and clear Adriatic sea. The room was clean and tidy with the maid, cleaning it every day. There were always ample sunbeds and parasols both on the beach and next to the pool so there was no need to put towels down. The food choice at breakfast and dinner was amazing with so much to choose from. We had wine with our evening meal and the waiting staff explained a little about the origins of the wine before they served it. A nice touch. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy throughout. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and the buses will take you to Dubrovnik old town for under two euros each. We also did the cable car trip from Dubrovnik old town which was stunning looking down over the old town and the bay. One slight niggle. Whilst the tap water is some of the cleanest in Europe and very drinkable, they serve bottled water with dinner which is chargeable. A jug of tap water would be an easy alternative. Also, there aren't any water refill stations in the hotel. All the staff in the hotel we came across were very friendly , happy and polite and all spoke excellent English. Some that served us and gave us great friendly service were: Dora and Rosario at reception, Petar at Zagreb University, in the main restaurant: Andrea M, Predrag, Rea, Ema, Duro, Davor, Miljenko (Sommelier trained), Borislav, Ema, Vladan, Miljan, Lucija on restaurant reception, Sam... Indonesian cook Tara and Vedrana (cooks). Thank you all for making our holiday wonderful
Amazing sunset, relaxing beach and kind staff
