Arrived at 11 pm and no water in room during a heatwave. Asked for water and was told to use sink in bathroom for water or pay €13 for 2 bottles of water. Fell on a puddle of water on the first day near reception and was bruised and sore. Water was still there the next day. Staff not the most friendly, service not good, breakfast and food was not reflective of a 4 star hotel. Drinks were very expensive, €72 for 4 Bailey's. Curtains in room were not wide enough to fully cover the windows, no milk in rooms and tea bags not stocked up, dirty cloth left in bathroom sink, 2 towels only, iron broken, wifi was not good, no option for late check out. Air con good in rooms but not everywhere else, good location and would have plenty of potential under better management, no signs of managers around keeping an eye out, was fully charged a week before arrival. View is the best thing about the hotel. Extremely overpriced for what you get.
Really nice hotel on the seafront. Parking is underneath and car is very safe there. The one issue we had was that we wasn’t told that we have to prebook the buffet as we were bed and breakfast and not half board. So our second night the waiter point blank refused to let us have the buffet, saying we should have pre-booked. The night before, which was our first night we went too early to dinner but was advised if we came back an hour later we would have buffet. We ate ala cart that night, the following night was a shut down. When you’re sitting there with a couple of options on a menu that are very pricey and watching others eating the buffet food it isn’t good, especially when we were not informed. My wife had a discussion at reception and they agreed to it, but be warned. Pre book it if you are not half board. However the breakfast is on another level and the guy doing the egg options was really good, speaking in several languages and genuinely making conversation. An asset to the hotel. Would definitely revisit but make sure you use Uber from the hotel and not flag a taxi down. Will save you a fortune
Split is a very decent place to visit. Friendly atmosphere, safe, no scammers or visible pick pockets. Fantastic beach area with restaurants and bars with reasonable prices. Nice to walk or exercise. Nice with both Croatian and European friendly tourists. The hotel is originally 4 star, but maintenance and management can be improved. The sound insulation was great. The room was tidy, but the cleaners forgot new towels, refill coffe etc, which was fixed after reminding. The breakfast and half board dinner was good and fresh. However with a feeling of school canteen. Overall worth the money since the overall environment and impression were excellent, even if the hotel and its bar was overpriced.
I am very disappointed with my stay at this hotel, where we had to pay in full for the three nights, eight days before our arrival, otherwise, the reservation would not have been confirmed. We had booked a room accessible for disable people, but the amenities were not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel for this category of rooms. Clearly, guests with disabilities are not treated the same as other guests. Out of only three accessible rooms in the entire hotel, our first room had no phone and a very unpleasant sewer smell in the bathroom. We asked to switch rooms, and we were offered a choice between a room with a bathroom where the shower seat was broken, making it impossible to shower, or another room that was barely equipped: no fridge, no phone, no mirror, just the bare minimum. How can you claim to offer 4 star service? Every time we asked to speak to the manager, no one was available. When we checked out, one of the receptionists told us that the manager would contact us to offer a discount; we have been waiting for 10 days now. It’s a shame, I will never return to your hotel.
The Amphora Split Hotel far exceeded my expectations! The location is perfect—right across from the beach, with a supermarket, amazing restaurants, and beach clubs all within walking distance. Old Town is only about a 10-minute Uber ride away.
The breakfast had an incredible variety and was delicious, and I loved the gym with Matrix equipment and the two saunas in the spa.
A special thank you to Rina Milanovic, who was so professional, kind, and went above and beyond to make my stay special. Plavi Safir helped me arrange my Dalmatian dinner, airport transfer, and even booked my boat trip to Hvar. She was incredibly helpful and made wonderful recommendations.
I had such a wonderful experience at Amphora and would highly recommend it. I can’t wait to come back
