Soco House

It seems I started this review and never finished it, we went Match 2026 but trip adviser only lets you review so far back.

If you are fortunate to visit St Lucia we would recommend SoCo House as a place to stay. A lovely boutique hotel, that very much played a part in the great week* we stayed on the island (* I would suggest a minimum of 10days if you can).

The rooms are either side of a central courtyard that is the location of the pool, sun beds and a bar that is open into the evening. We had a ground floor room that led on to the pool (this was an upgrade from what we had booked by the hotel due to an issue on arrival I’ll mention below). A lovely sized room with a great bathroom and plenty of space for our belongings.

The dining room is off Toni e side and set over 2 floors. In the evening if you have a preferred time to eat I’d recommend booking the time with them, often the popula times booked up quickly, although they will always try and accommodate you if they can. Breakfast was a good range of items, one day there was an issue with some delays, but the rests of the time no issues. For lunch and dinner there were a range of dishes to suite tastes, again from memory a menu tended to cover 2 days which for us worked well.

There are 2 bars at the hotel, one in the courtyard which you find people at various stages of the day but was most popular post dinner. The main barman made it a very social affair encouraging guests to talk to one another, and often sharing some pearls of wisdom. When that closed from memory around 10/10.30, but better to check when you are there, there is another indoor bar that is open a bit later.

The pool was great with a range of sun-beds, but also a short walk away they had an area of the beach where some locals would set you up with sun-beds and an umbrella, you could also order a cool box to take beers and soft drinks from the hotel with you. On occasion you would get some locals asking for a ‘spare beer’ but they were never any trouble.

Also a short walk away was a shopping centre with some restaurants if you wanted a change of scenery.

On Fridays in the main town there was a street party which we went to (as did 90% of the hotel) on our last night. We booked a local character / taxi driver (from memory Patrick Eugene) who took us there and back with no issues. He was a fun character and hopefully still around.

The only ‘issues’ we had. In check. They didn’t have our reservation - an issue between BA and the hotel - which took time to resolve so we never got the full ‘welcome’ experience others did. The issue was resolved after around 40mins and they didn’t upgrade our room. With the room we had, there was a slight slope going to the entrance. On the one day of rain, water ran down the slight slope to the room, we happened to be there and put towels down to stop the water but some rooms the water did get in under the door. All they needed to do is cut a thin channel so the water can ruin off to the plants. Not an issue for us.

Would definitely go back.

Exceptional service, food and location. We deeply enjoyed our stay at SoCo House! Starting with the booking with Janel. She helped us through all questions to help guide us here. It’s right next to riddles bay / Rodney’s beach, very short walk. Vladimir, the GM, welcomed us and was very attentive and accessible to all our questions and needs. The suites, pools, restaurant and bars were lovely. Gavin and Rose were amazing company and kept the drinks flowing ;). All around a very great experience.

The food was delicious and service prompt. We planned to go off resorts for several meals but ended up eating at the SoCo house.

When in town, and if you have a car, we found the drive in valcano, mud bath, and sugar beach super worth the experience. Sugar beach a must. Careful driving though.
