Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My husband and I recently had the chance for a quick getaway to the island of St Lucia. We wanted something low-key & relaxing, and Calabash Cove was a great fit. We felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. We stayed in one of the Water’s Edge Cottages which really provided a great private getaway. Decorated in traditional Caribbean style, with fresh flowers used throughout, the cottages are surrounded with beautiful landscape, air-conditioned bedrooms, a separate living area with fully stocked bar (we did the all-inclusive), and lovely outdoor patio and private plunge pool. Just a quick note, the shower was outdoor, so if this is something that might bother you, be aware.
The infinity pool was well kept, with beautiful water & island views, and we never had to fight for a chair! The beach, although smaller than some, was perfect size for this resort and never felt crowded. The service at the swim up bar was very good and you could also grab your lunch here if you don’t want to go to the main restaurant.
As for dining, there’s only one restaurant - so not a lot of variety. Set menus were in place daily, however, each day had a new “chef’s special” in the evening. We loved breakfast and you should definitely try the Brioche French Toast! If you like more choices for meals, you may not want to get the AI package and opt to venture out to nearby restaurants. We were only there a few nights, but if we were staying longer, we probably would not have chosen AI.
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. However, if you are someone seeking more activity, then this resort may not be the best option. If you want romantic, low-key, “get away from it all”, then Calabash Cove may be perfect for you. With only 26 rooms, you will never feel like there are too many people! And everyone at the resort will make you feel welcome!
A couple of other notes, mosquitos are a real thing in St Lucia. Calabash Cove did have mosquito spray in the room which was definitely used and greatly appreciated. I’d also assume mosquitos are worse during the summer months when it is more humid and we were there in late July. The resort does not have elevators (like many others on the island). There are many stairs to go up/down. Take this into consideration If you have any mobility issues. If air conditioning is a priority to you, I’d probably recommend getting one of the Swim Up Suites or OceanView suites. While our cottage did have A/C in the bedroom part, it did not in the bathroom or living area, and because of that, could sometimes take awhile to cool down.
Calabash Cove is a great resort for those seeking romance, peace, private getaway, without all the crowds. We had a wonderful few days at this adult only resort and would definitely return! Thank you to all the staff for making it a wonderful getaway for us!
Everything about the trip was incredible! I would recommend Calabash Cove to anyone- especially those looking for a Honeymoon spot. They have the best resort food I have ever had! The staff is so friendly and makes you feel so welcome. You can tell they strive to the best of their ability to make your stay as wonderful as possible. The views are beautiful. They also help you set up excursions to see more of the island in a very easy and safe way. We are so thankful we came to Calabash cove and hope to be back!
Unbelievable experience. Staff is incredible - everyone is so welcoming and so helpful. Huge shoutout to Travis and Kevin!! Food and drinks were also amazing, we left every meal so full. Everything we had was seriously so good. They offered great excursions as well. We did the tout bagay boat cruise and it was also great. This place is going to be very very hard to beat. Perfect vacation
My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and have been dreaming about going back ever since. We stayed the a cottage with the plunge pool and the room was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The concierge helped us book our excursions and any transportation we needed. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to visit!!
One of the most beautiful spaces on earth. The staff are all incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming, and the owner takes a genuine personal interest in ensuring that you're well looked after.
The infinity pool and views across the Caribbean are simply breathtaking, particularly at sunset. The whole resort has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere - a romantic haven of tranquillity and natural beauty where it is very easy to forget about the outside world.
Beautiful grounds, stunning surroundings and genuine hospitality. Calabash Cove is a very special place and one I would happily return to.
