The marvellous Riu Club Negril enjoys a fantastic setting right on the fine white sandy beach and the crystal-clear waters of Bloody Bay. The hotel in neo-colonial style features a wonderful pool landscape, various dining options, sports facilities as well as an excellent spa and wellness area. The airport of Montego Bay is approximately 80 km away.
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages, body treatments and facials. After dipping into one of the 3 outdoor swimming pools, you can spend some time at the private beach. This Art Deco property also features complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and babysitting (surcharge).
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a great 2 weeks at this hotel and have immediately booked to go back again, nothing was a problem to staff and they always had a smile on their faces from the moment we checked in, The rooms were left spotless by the cleaning team everyday and the food and drink were amazing and plentiful(please try the Bob Marley cocktails) the amenities were kept clean and tidy the only gripe I have is the Adult pool did have some unsavoury characters at times( I felt like I was next to a soft porn movie filming one afternoon and the self proclaimed "Influencers" like to take over a bit) but they were short stay Guests of only a couple of days, the Neon & White parties are amazing, the night time entertainment was outstanding but most of all and the biggest shout out goes to the entertainment team, they are awesome from 10 am until midnight they work their socks off keeping all entertained, You start your holiday as strangers but leave as friends with them. This is a fantastic hotel with so many positives.
Starting on arrival, to be offered a cold and refreshing drink as we waited to check in was very much welcomed and a nice touch! Check in was quick and painless and they insisted we have the cases brought up to our rooms. This was very generous bearing in mind there are no lifts and we were on the second floor.
We made it in time to be able to eat in the main restaurant, however, there is food and drinks served 24 hours a day, in the sports bar. The food in the main restaurant was really nice with lots of choice, even for the pickiest of eaters, There is some show cooking but I feel this has reduced compared to when we visited previously. The only suggestion I would make would be for the seating area to be air conditioned as it was very hot and humid whilst eating.
We also ate in the Island Cove restaurant for lunch which again had lots of choice and upstairs was cool.
The snack bar is fab; jerk chicken and tacos being my favourite. Other options included burgers, sausage, fries, wedges, hotdogs, nachos and salad.
There are several bars serving soft drinks, smoothies, mocktails, red stripe, wine, cocktails and hot drinks. There is never much of a wait to be served.
We used the family pool where there was plenty of sunbeds (no sunbed dash here). The lifeguards are constantly busy, watching the pool but also collecting cups and generally keeping the area tidy. The beach is literally a few steps away and is clean and tidy with some grass in the sea. My partner loved going snorkelling and saw lots of fish and a stingray! The pedalos are free to use, for 30 mins. There are loads of sunbeds all day too.
The entertainment team work tirelessly to make your holiday full of fun. They are all very friendly and talented! The white and neon parties are an amazing experience! The only suggestion I would make is for the daytime games in the pool to be on a fortnightly rotation rather than weekly as we were there for a fortnight and so the games were the same. This also applies to the evening entertainment as most shows were repeated on a weekly basis.
Both of our rooms were fab! Spacious and clean with views out to sea. The mini bar was topped up every two days. There is also a coffee machine. Towels were clean and soft and regularly changed. Loved having a safe that wasn’t chargeable and easy to use.
One thing that is evident is just how hard all the staff work in very hot and humid conditions to make everything run smoothly, they are a real credit!
One thing I thought was missing was no availability of ice creams or ice lollies which were available last time we visited.
Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to others.
This was our second 4 week visit to Riu Negril. Our first was in 2024, right before the refurbishment. The changes have been mostly positive and those I didn’t like were purely personal preference and didn’t affect our overall level of service and satisfaction.
The entertainment team. Some familiar faces, many new. All outstanding. The hours and hard work these guys and girls put in are unbelievable. Thank you so much to Timon, Brian, Pineapple, Toothpick, Shaq, Speedy, 45, Shin Shin, Whitney, Cuban, Trovis, GiGi and all the team, you really made our holiday unforgettable.
All the bar staff were brilliant, special shout out to O’Neal. My forever holiday husband haha. He makes the best Lemon Drops!
The grounds were always well kept and spotless. Housekeeping was faultless and any requests were addressed promptly and with a smile.
Food was always good at Green Island, plenty of options. We ate in all the restaurants. My kids (10 & 9) loved the Italian. I even managed a night with just me and mum at the Kulinarium without the kids which was really nice.
The beach is beautiful. Yes there is sea grass but we loved watching the sea life in the shallows and venturing further out and snorkelling to see so much more.
Can’t wait to return, definitely our forever home from home.

Just returned from my fifth trip to Jamaica and my 6th Riu resort. This resort has captured my heart unexpectedly and i think it's in part due to the location but mostly down to the staff. We always bond with the staff but this place was on another level. they went out of their way to make my daughters 15th birthday special (Thanks Speedy). The bar staff were out of this world. They have to put up with an awful lot from some guests but we found them to be incredibly hardworking, outgoing friendly and skilled as well. Camille looked after us on many occasions in the evenings (in the Theatre area), She is an absolute ambassador to the RIU brand and their values. Speedy, Shana-lee, Timone, Whitney, Shin shin, Yogi, Bryan, Big Shack, Shadow, Cuban, Pineapple, Toothpick, GG, and the other entertainers put on amazing productions and worked so hard for all the guests. I never participate normally as i like to watch but they actually got me involved and I had a blast. our maid kept our room clean and tidy (1211) and even though we left valuables out nothing went missing. the front desk staff were equally as good and professional. Chad took our bags to the room and made sure we were settled and made a point of saying hi to us when we saw him. The hotel itself was renovated in 2019 i think and it's a beautiful resort with a great vibe and beautiful beach. be sure to check out the boat trips as they are really good. thank you to all the RIU staff who really made this holiday the best we've had. we are in Aquarelle next year but i will be going back to RIU Negril the year after purely because of the experience the people who work there gave us
