10/10- very clean, all staff was professional and very friendly. Customer service excellent. Food good for all inclusive
It’s not my first time here, the first time wasn’t the best. This time around I actually enjoyed myself and that’s because of the few staff who engaged us and actually did their jobs. Suneil from front desk was very warm and that’s the energy you need at the forefront. There was more engagement from staff on the beach, really loved that. Santino from dining room was nice to us, Marlene and Delroy from the swim up bar were simply amazing!! Jordane from the Entertainment team was carrying the vibe and energy all day and got us engaged in the activities, also the pool buzz with the entertainment team was great, lady in blue RIU fit she hosts very well.
There was one thing, I didn’t like how the Security supervisor sort of made it look like my group was not welcome. Badgering us about armband, we wouldn’t be able to pass the front desk without a band. So while I felt disrespected I was also confuse. So next time maybe find creative ways to find out information from guests please.
Otherwise, for sure I’ll be back!
My Hubby and I just got back from Riu Reggae. The Resort is Definitely a Party Place with lots of great Food, Beach and Service!! It is very clean and the Staff is very Friendly. I recently stayed at Riu Montego Bay and experienced the disappearance of an entire bag of my personal belongings from my room. The way this incident was handled by resort management was unacceptable.
After housekeeping had cleaned the room, I packed a bag of clothing and left it inside the room when we went out at approximately 8:15 p.m. When we returned around 11:00 p.m., the entire bag was gone. I know exactly what I packed, where I left it, and that it was inside the room when we left. The bag did not simply disappear, and I expect Riu to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves.
I reported the missing belongings to the resort, yet no one proactively followed up with me. The following morning, I had to go to the front desk myself to demand an update. Two managers told me that the electronic door records showed only our access and housekeeping access. I was then handed a card and directed to contact corporate.
That response was dismissive and completely inadequate. The fact that the electronic door records do not show another entry does not explain how my belongings disappeared. It does not resolve the incident, identify what happened, or excuse the resort from conducting a thorough investigation.
If management is relying on the electronic access records, then it needs to explain whether those records capture every form of access, including master-key access, staff access, maintenance access, security access, emergency access, or any other method of entering the room. Riu should also investigate housekeeping procedures, identify the employees who accessed the room, review available surveillance footage, and determine whether any staff member had an opportunity to remove the bag.
Instead of investigating these possibilities, management appeared to use the door records as a reason to dismiss my concerns and shift the responsibility to corporate. That is not an acceptable response to a guest reporting missing property.
I was also told by security officer B. Campbell that I could not receive an incident report because it was an internal document. That is unacceptable. I was the guest reporting the disappearance of my belongings, and I had every right to expect the incident to be formally documented. Refusing to provide any documentation only adds to the impression that the resort was more interested in limiting its responsibility than resolving the matter.
I am not asking Riu to accuse anyone without evidence. I am demanding a proper, documented investigation and a meaningful explanation. Something happened to my belongings between the time I left them in the room and the time I returned. The resort’s current response does not explain what happened, and simply pointing to electronic door records is not an investigation.
This incident is not only about the value of the missing clothing. It is about the security of guests’ rooms, the protection of their property, and the resort’s failure to communicate or take responsibility. I should not have had to chase management down for an update, nor should I have been handed a corporate complaint card instead of receiving a serious response.
I expect Riu corporate to independently review this matter, investigate all possible forms of room access, review any available surveillance footage, determine how the bag disappeared, explain why an incident report was withheld, and provide a written response regarding reimbursement for my missing belongings.
Until Riu provides a credible explanation and meaningful resolution, I will not consider this matter closed. Based on the resort’s failure to properly address the disappearance of my property and its dismissive response, I cannot recommend Riu Montego Bay and will be warning others about this experience.
We stayed at RIU Reggae in Montego Bay from August 17–24, 2026, and overall had a great time — until clothing went missing from our room on our second-to-last night.
On the evening of 08/23, we returned from events on the property to find that several items of clothing were missing. Nothing was misplaced or left elsewhere — they were gone from where we'd left them. The frustrating part was that when we reported this to staff right away, the response felt more like a formality than a real investigation. To file an official police report, we were told we'd need to travel several miles off property—with no safe or reasonable way to get there, we didn't feel comfortable making that trip, especially at night in a country we don't know.
As of writing this review, we have not received any resolution or compensation, despite filing a complaint, calling corporate, and everything else we were instructed to do. For a resort at this price point, we expected a more serious response to a guest reporting stolen property.
Advice to guests: be careful of what you leave in the room and account for everything.
