Located on the lively island of Jamaica, the resort can be found on the coast of one of the best beaches in the world. Gorgeous beaches, beautiful gardens, and ocean views from the rooms and hotel facilities and other natural attractions that visitors can enjoy surround the hotel. One of the most recommended places to visit is just an hour away: Dunns River Falls in the town of Ocho Rios. At the resort, all rooms are perfectly appointed with all the luxurious details. Each spacious room features a large terrace for admiring the splendid scenery.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages, body treatments and facials. After dipping into one of the 4 outdoor swimming pools, you can spend some time at the private beach. Additional amenities at this resort include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and babysitting (surcharge).
Our stay at Iberostar Montego Bay was amazing from beginning to end. The resort was clean, relaxing, and the staff made us feel right at home. Shania was especially helpful and made sure we were taken care of. Her customer service was exceptional!
Iberostar Montego Bay was a great place to stay. The staff were welcoming and the resort had a wonderful vacation atmosphere. Shania was an outstanding concierge very attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. She made sure we had everything we needed and helped make our stay memorable.
My wife and I just returned from our third trip to Rose Hall. Twice at the Suites and once at the Grand. This time we stayed at the Suites. Our purpose was to sit on the beach, soak up the sun and just relax. The Suites did not disappoint. At checkin we found out we should have used the pick your room feature on the website as we had to accept a ocean front room with two beds and not a king. Lesson learned. From there the rest was easy, food was very good especially the steak house. The buffet offered the quick and easy meal with lots of options and for a buffet it was just fine. The steakhouse needs a shout out as I had a T-bone steak bigger than one I can buy at the store and cooked just as ordered. This is a must meal for everyone. Two compliments to the management, first no longer do you need the same credit card to check in as the one you made the reservation with and second the special restaurants no longer need a reservation to eat there. The bar service is quick and the lobby bar makes a great Old Fashion to enjoy after dinner. This is getting too long, suffice to say our stay was great and we look forward to next time.
We recently completed an 8-day stay at this resort—our first all-inclusive vacation in the Caribbean. While we have no other all inclusive resorts to compare it to, here's what we experienced.
Check-in & Rooms
Check-in was quick and efficient. We received our requested room on the top floor with a partial ocean view and visibility of the children's pool. The room was clean and comfortable, though I'd rate it 3.5 to 4 stars rather than 5. Note: The large hallways and elevators throughout the property are not air-conditioned.
Pools
The property has three pools, but the middle pool was under construction for our entire stay, with daily jackhammer use that was audible even over the music at the main pool and lazy river. Had we known about this maintenance, we may have chosen the Waves resort next door. The lazy river had a significant dead section where water didn't circulate, forcing us to walk through rather than float. The main pool, however, was huge and magnificent—we enjoyed it for several days.
Beach
The beach is pleasant with adequate sandy swimming area. However, seaweed beds begin approximately 10–20 yards offshore. Beverage service was only available on the western half of the beach. When we spent time on the eastern side, we saw no servers; service resumed when we moved west.
Dining
Food quality was good and portions were generous. Standout experiences: Aunt Ruby Steakhouse served excellent ribeye and New York strip. The Jerk Hut's daily barbecue was excellent. The Asian restaurant offered superior taste and selection. We also visited the teppanyaki-style restaurant at the neighboring Iberostar Waves resort, where food was cooked at our table—we had a wonderful experience there. Disappointments: Lobster was minimal in portion and underwhelming in quality. The Greek restaurant's lamb dish wasn't to our taste—we wished we'd ordered differently.
Entertainment
The live reggae band (two nights) and lobby violinist were highlights. The magic show and circus were average. The Motown night featured three singers with choreography and good vocals, though it felt karaoke-like. Note: Pool music was predominantly Jamaican genre; a mix of 70s and 80s hits would have been welcomed.
Service
This was the resort's weakest aspect. While a few staff members were exceptional (Kimi and Kanisha), many employees seemed bothered by guest requests, regardless of how politely we asked or how well we tipped. This inconsistency significantly disappointed us and lowered our overall rating.
Overall
Would we return? Possibly, but we'd like to experience another resort before deciding.
We travelled with a group of 8 adults ages 24-60. The resort (located about 15 minutes from airport)is on the smaller-medium size. The food at the buffet was good….restaurant food very good. The employees who were happy to be working were fantastic, the ones who didn’t want to be there were miserable. The grounds, rooms, pools, etc were all in nice condition. Since we were staying at Selections, we had privileges at Waves also which is nice to have additional choices. Joia (all adult/luxury) is undergoing major renovations and is currently closed…to reopen Dec. 1st. We were invited to an “unveiling” evening and it looks like it is going to a beautiful upscale resort! Would definiately book it if we return to the Iberostar brand in Jamaica.
