The food was amazing, the property was beautiful, well-kept and clean throughout, and the customer service was excellent. The staff were well-trained, friendly and very professional.
The beach was definitely one of my favorite parts of the stay—it was absolutely beautiful, and I could have stayed out there every day!
The hotel was jam-packed because it was independent weekend, but what impressed me most was that the large crowd did not affect the quality of service or the hotel’s ability to carry out its duties. Everything still ran smoothly, and we had a wonderful experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be visiting Riu Ocho Rios again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good Vacation
We took a family vacation to Ocho Rios Jamaica and had a wonderful time as a family. Overall the vacation was good. The resort is situated in a great location in Ocho Rios connecting to the main parts of the island and main attractions such as Dunns River Fall and close to city life. The rooms are clean and the premise is also very clean with staff visibly cleaning daily. The food was very good with a variety of selections no matter your preference. The choice in Jamaican dishes that are close to authentic (when compared to other hotels) was the highlight for us. Some meals were excellent, fish soup, bammy and escovitch fish were excellent. Overall the food is the best in variety and different cultural representations. As it relates to the Jamaica dishes, the more authentic the use of Jamaican seasoning and cooking, the better the food tasted. The serving of jerk chicken/pork at the jerk pit was great after a long swim at the beach. The beach was also very good with natural cold water springing up from the bottom of the ocean through the sand. This was unique and fascinating discovery. Overall the vacation was fabulous but as with any place, there is room for improvement. Consequently, the customer service can be improved upon. We travelled with our parents who are elderly and needed urgent servicing in the room. We went to front desk to get service for their room which became a battle (back and forth) to get it done. There was no sense of urgency, “we get it done when we get it done”, which created some tension. However, front desk clerk Oshein stepped in and made arrangements to expedite the process. Lamar housekeeping staff was excellent when he arrived. Front desk clerk Danieca was also patient and good when helping us to solve any issue. Wait staff Twinesha (hope I have the correct spelling) was excellent in serving our large table nightly. The staff at the jerk pit was excellent, working very hard daily to meet the demand for jerk chicken. As such, better customer service with happier staff will improve the overall experience at this resort.
Return visit-a nice hotel but room for improvement
All staff were friendly and approachable considering there was a hurricane less than 12 months ago, the property and food available was outstanding. Food- great offering with lots to choose from. Food was not consistently hot so often lukewarm or cold by time you got to your table. Vegetarian, free from and vegan options were not clearly marked. There are members of staff who take feedback during your stay. After our random selection and sharing this about the food-changes were made the following evening.
Housekeeping- did a fantastic job in my room. Thanks again.
Bars- Good selection of drinks with what I like available consistently for the two weeks I was there. Bar staff were fun and attentive. Sports bar was kept clean and tidy 24/7, consistency of food available could be improved. Again something I gave feedback on and the following day it was better.
Pool- lots to choose from, well kept and I appreciated the bar staff and lifeguards ensuring that adult only pools stayed that way.
Entertainment-was good. Lots to enjoy a bit repetitive if you have been before or other Riu’s as the programme is the same. Excellent if you have children, I didn’t but the entertainment team and the children seemed to be having a lovely time whenever I saw them.
Things have changed and other Riu on the Island offer similar service so the Ocho Rio’s one would no longer be my automatic go to. Rooms could do with a deep clean especially in the bathroom. This property is in a great location and I would highly recommend it if you want to visit prominent tourist attractions such as Dunns river or margaritaville.
Beautiful Resort in a Perfect Location
This was my second stay at a RIU hotel in Jamaica, and I would definitely say this one is top tier.
The hotel facilities were outstanding—everything was clean, well maintained, and the grounds were beautifully kept throughout our stay.
The location was excellent and within easy reach of many popular attractions. While you can arrange excursions and taxis, I would still recommend hiring a car if you want the flexibility to explore the island properly.
The only downside was that not all of the staff were consistently friendly. Several people mentioned that service seemed to be better for guests who tipped regularly, and I have to say I got the same impression. During peak times it was difficult to find available sunbeds or seating, and staff could have been more proactive in helping guests.
The entertainment was a real highlight, both during the day and in the evenings. The White Party was fantastic and created such a great atmosphere that carried on throughout the night. I was told the hotel used to have its own nightclub, and I think bringing that back would be a great addition, particularly for guests who want to enjoy a late-night experience without leaving the resort.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel offers great facilities, a fantastic location, and a lively atmosphere. With a little more consistency in customer service, it would easily be a five-star experience.

Family oriented and Comforting
Riu Ocho Rios is one of the best family oriented hotel. I would highly recommend staying there for vacation. Great hospitality, customer service,and the staff is top tier. I always choose them for a vacation.
