The Riu Ocho Rios is a fantastic hotel complex surrounded by beautiful Caribbean landscaped nestled in an enchanting environment. The hotel enjoys a beachfront location in one of the best destinations of Jamaica, at approximately 8 km from Ocho Rios town. Kingston is reachable after a 2 hour drive. This family-friendly beach hotel provides an excellent all-inclusive service and a wide range of entertainment options. In this hotel, guests can take advantage of all the facilities and services expected for a pleasant stay.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages, body treatments and facials. After dipping into one of the 5 outdoor swimming pools, you can spend some time at the private beach. Additional features at this Art Deco property include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and gift shops/newsstands.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This was my second stay at a RIU hotel in Jamaica, and I would definitely say this one is top tier.
The hotel facilities were outstanding—everything was clean, well maintained, and the grounds were beautifully kept throughout our stay.
The location was excellent and within easy reach of many popular attractions. While you can arrange excursions and taxis, I would still recommend hiring a car if you want the flexibility to explore the island properly.
The only downside was that not all of the staff were consistently friendly. Several people mentioned that service seemed to be better for guests who tipped regularly, and I have to say I got the same impression. During peak times it was difficult to find available sunbeds or seating, and staff could have been more proactive in helping guests.
The entertainment was a real highlight, both during the day and in the evenings. The White Party was fantastic and created such a great atmosphere that carried on throughout the night. I was told the hotel used to have its own nightclub, and I think bringing that back would be a great addition, particularly for guests who want to enjoy a late-night experience without leaving the resort.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel offers great facilities, a fantastic location, and a lively atmosphere. With a little more consistency in customer service, it would easily be a five-star experience.
Riu Ocho Rios is one of the best family oriented hotel. I would highly recommend staying there for vacation. Great hospitality, customer service, and the staff is top tier. I always choose them for a vacation.
This is one if not the best RIU’s in Jamaica, you feel at home and staffs are very helpful ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏾
Special recognition and appreciation for Ray, Macy, Tamoya and Cover from entertainment. Very kindhearted and fun!
This hotel is great! We stayed here as a family of 3 for two weeks. Pools - plenty of choice, activity pool which is buzzing from 10am until about 3pm. There is also a separate pool which is quieter and a kids splash park.
Our room was in a good location for the resort, a little outdated but beds were comfy and definitely still usable for the amount of time we spent in the room. Cleaner came everyday and what was lovely was plenty of towels!
Food - Buffet selection was great! Breakfast had plenty of choice, Jamaican section, omelette station with various fillings and made to order, bread/pastries and then eggs, hash browns etc. Lunch selection was salads which changed daily and tasted great, there was always a station that changed from grilled sandwiches, hot dogs etc and sushi was also available. Dinner menu changed each night which was good to see, seafood, meat selection and food cooking on grill. Never sat there for long and you could see the chefs cooking.
À la carte - In my opinion this is where the hotel lacks in comparison to other hotel brands we have stayed in before. Food was not hot or cooked to order, choices lacking and just generally not as nice as the buffet. The only one we revisited was the steak house but definitely disappointed with the bookable restaurants.
Staff - with the exception of the rude lady who checked us in everybody was so friendly and chatty.
Entertainment- This team works so hard from morning till night and always smile on their face. Night shows are great from neon night, beach bash, Jamaican night, steel band, Michael Jackson tribute to the white party none of them disappointed!
I would stay here again and the beach is clean and plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The resort never felt really busy and plenty of room for people to spread out.
