Hugely Disappointing - Not a TUI Blu standard hotel
Unfortunately, this hotel fell well short of the standard suggested by its star rating and it's classification as a TUI Blu hotel. I've stayed in some amazing 4 star Tui Blu hotels in Europe, this is nowhere near the expected standard - a 3 star rating would be generous.
Cleanliness was inconsistent, the buildings and rooms felt tired and poorly maintained, and the bedding and towels were of a noticeably lower quality than expected.
The pool area was dirty with broken and stained sunbeds and pillows. The outside lounge areas and sofas used in the evening were again dirty and often covered in bird poo.
The all inclusive food was average at best, while included drinks were limited (premixed sweet undrinkable cocktails and beer served in tiny cups). Staff were generally polite but largely uninterested, for example we often needed to approach them during quiet breakfast service to ask for coffee as there was no effort made to serve guests.
Cash and tipping is king here as we found out. Expect to be ignored by the waiting staff in the evening unless you tip 20 Dirhams (roughly £1.60) which will turn you into a VIP and the drinks will keep arriving.
One positive - we took up the offer to eat at the 'culinarium' one evening, the chicken and lamb tagines were both very good although the restaurant itself was sizeable with only 2 other couples dining so it felt deserted.
'Entertainment' started at around 9pm each night. It's not our thing but you couldn't really escape the noise from anywhere in the hotel (including our room). What isn't advertised in the hotel description is the fact a nightclub exists on site. We could here bass and faint music until 5am most nights. Not enough to keep us up but an awareness it was there. It may have been better for worse on other floors (we were on the second floor).
One noticeable disappointment was the "private" beach. We were assured that security would patrol to keep vendors away, but this never happened. A new hawker would appear at the end of your sunbed every 5 mins, making it difficult to relax. A polite "no thank you" would move them on, but another would soon appear.
The clientele is mainly English and French guests. Sunbeds around the pool were available without having to get up at dawn. It was generally quiet around the pool for the 2 days we spent around it, although I would advise to choose sunbeds away from the swim up bar if you are after a quieter spot. There is a dartboard area behind the bar where large groups started to congregate for 'tournaments'.
We preferred the beach and spent most of our time there despite the constant interruptions.
Overall, this hotel was nowhere near the TUI Blu standard when I think of the tired facilities, average food, limited drinks, lacklustre service and the false premise of a 'private beach'.
We left feeling a mixture of of satisfaction that we tried something different (rather than our usual greek island holiday go to) but very disappointed with the overall experience and wouldn't go back.
Great location
My daughter an I have just returned from a 10 day stay in this hotel. Checking in was seamless, the rooms are spotless , the cleaners do a fantastic job.
The staff could not be more helpful , especially Nisrine on the pool bar , if you you don’t know what you want tot drink then she will happily make something up for you. Food is excellent although limited to 3 places to eat. However the food is good and the choice is good.
The location is great, the beach is just outside the hotel and you can walk up the beach in either direction if you want to explore. There are lots of police on patrol all night into the early hours so you will feel safe.
There is a little lack of atmosphere around the pool as there is no music , apart from pool party days and the aqua aerobics, but you can get around this with your headphones or using your phone, just be mindful of your sunbed neighbours.
The entertainment team are fab and very approachable shout out to Sara, Laura and the rest of gang.
All in all it’s nice hotel with good food, clean and lovely people, what more can you ask.

Standards Have Slipped - Not Up to TUI BLUE Standards
We have stayed with RIU Hotels before most recently around two years ago and even then we felt there were signs of cost-cutting. On this visit however it was much more prominent.
A welcome drink was provided on arrival but some of the smaller touches that used to be part of the RIU experience have completely disappeared. Only very basic bathroom toiletries were provided such as hand soap and shower gel despite there still being evidence of the old dispensers for feminine hygiene products etc that used to be provided. We were also concerned that the soaps in the room was diluted with water when the dispensers was running low.
Housekeeping and maintenance were not at the standard we expected. The net and main curtains in the room showed signs of dirt, wear and damage whilst communal areas and furniture often looked as though they had only received a very basic clean.
The restaurants were also very disappointing. Placemats were sometimes dirty and we noticed food from the previous day including chicken bones still around the floor, tables and chairs. Stray cats were also permitted into the lunchtime restaurant and we witnessed one doing its business inside an indoor plant pot. Food choice became repetitive, some of the fruit appeared past its best and the overall quality was not what we have experienced from RIU in the past.
Around the pool and beach, the majority of sunbeds were dirty or discoloured with remnants of sweat and suntan cream residue. The usual problem of guests reserving sunbeds before dawn also did not seem to be controlled.
The staff generally appeared to be working hard, but it also looked as though many were being expected to cover several duties. At times, there also seemed to be an expectation of tips even for basic duties. Morale appeared lower than on previous visits and service was inconsistent. We also found the attitude of a senior restaurant manager disappointing.
Entertainment was fairly average while the spa was expensive for the quality of treatment provided.
Overall, the biggest issue was the feeling that standards have gradually been reduced in order to save money. Cost-cutting may improve figures on the balance sheet in the short term but it can also affect cleanliness, staff morale and ultimately the loyalty of returning guests.
We have enjoyed RIU hotels in the past which is why this stay was so disappointing. The group is capable of much better but on this occasion too many of the small details that once made the experience feel special were missing. Based on this experience, unfortunately we could not recommend this hotel and would not return.
Family holiday
Wonderful family Holiday in this hotel we really enjoyed our stay entertainment was good all staff in restaurants were amazing special mention to Mohammed the waiter who was attentive every night in the restaurant for us . Rooms where cleaned everyday and spotless We would not hesitate to return to this hotel and Morroco in the future .

Highly recommend this hotel
We have just returned after a fabulous week in Tikida Beach hotel Agadir. This hotel is a beautiful hotel, with comfortable spacious rooms , fantastic pool area with plenty of sun loungers with gigantic cushions for comfort. The hotel is situated with its own private beach area, again supplied with plenty of loungers. The staff are exceptional, friendly & can’t do enough to help. The front desk Manager Mr Yassine El Allam is there to constantly insure your needs are taken care of. The front staff are warm & friendly, & work so well under Mr Yassine. The food is plentiful & a wide choice of drinks. There are plenty of areas with bars to sit quietly or to join in the nightly entertainment which is great fun. The restaurant is run well under the watchful eye of the Maitre De Mr Karim , where nothing is too much trouble . You can dine inside or out with plenty of seating areas. This holiday was great value for money & a huge bonus that it is adult only hotel. Each evening was different entertainment, with local acts being brought in to entertain which was a real treat. While watching the entertainment Khadeja was always there to check you had drinks . Every afternoon I use to go to the bar on my way back from the pool & the barman Mustafa would make me a coffee just how I liked it. He was always so pleasant & polite. I had stayed in this hotel earlier this year & was so happy there we had decided to return & was not disappointed, we felt welcomed & valued as guests. There are shops & eateries in walking distance outside . I can not fault this hotel & can highly recommend it.
