Golden Beach

As a solo woman surfer I stayed one night on my way between airport and surf retreat and I felt totally safe and looked after. No airport shuttle but breakfast was included and make sure you buy water beforehand as they don’t provide any drinking water in the room. It was so nice of the concierge to go out at night and purchase some water for me. Free wifi was good.

The rooms are very nice and spacious, and the location is convenient, just five minutes from the beach! but the staff situation needs a complete overhaul. When we arrived, the young man at the reception didn't bother to explain anything about pool hours, breakfast, or other standard details; he simply demanded payment of the tax. When I didn't immediately understand what he was saying, he became annoyed and quite rude, asking if I spoke English. Yes, I do, but if someone thinks the appropriate speed for speaking to customers is like Eminem, communication becomes a bit difficult. Given these shortcomings, he really ought to learn some courtesy—perhaps by taking a leaf out of his colleague's book, as she was infinitely more polite and professional! Judging by other reviews, this kind of attitude is nothing new; it’s a shame it persists, because the hotel could do better.
