The hotel is nestled in the medina of Marrakech. Situated between the avenue El Fetouaki and the Mellah, near the most prestigious monuments, guests are within 400 m of the famous square Djamaa el Fna. Guests can reach the bus and train stations by public transport in around 10 and 15 minutes respectively. Menara International Airport of Marrakech is located approximately 5 km from the hotel. The riad boasts an enchanting terrace with a panoramic view enables guests to admire the Koutoubia Mosque and part of El Badi Palace. Travellers may completely unwind in the spacious and delightfully appointed rooms and suites, some of the units are accessible. They feature an opulent Moroccan décor complemented by top-notch comforts. Guests may indulge in sumptuous Moroccan dishes served at the beautiful dining lounge or on the rooftop terrace with garden. Those who seek relaxation may take a cooling dip in the charming courtyard pool or treat themselves to a massage available on-site.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Riad Africa was a perfect location for myself and my daughter to celebrate her 21st Birthday! All the staff were friendly and very helpful! It was a quiet and tranquil place to retire to after the hustle and bustle of the Medina! Our room was really lovely although the lighting was quite dark and the bathroom door was sticky which we were both aware of making noise for the other guests when opening and closing! All in all, I think Riad Africa was great value for money and I would highly recommend
The riad is right off the jemaa el fnaa square (only a 5 min walk up to the end of the road) in the heart of the old town. It's very convenient for getting everywhere - at the other end of the street is where taxis park up and only a few minutes walk from the koutoubia mosque and garden.
The Riad is quiet and peaceful amid the hustle and bustle of the city with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The riad has a unheated pool in the centre of the riad which was lovely to have a cooling dip.
There is a terrace on the roof to relax in the shade or sunbathe on a lounger with a dinning room or terrace seating to have your breakfast and dinner.
The breakfast and dinners are simple but filling and well cooked. There are also many very good cafes and restaurants nearby.
My room had air-conditioning a seating area and shower in my bathroom. The room had coloured glass door, traditional ironwork locks moroccan tiles, wall rugs and carved wooden furniture. The rooms and hotel were not brand spanking new and 5* style decor but they were very clean and felt homely and atmospheric to the old town. I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience for how economical my stay was.
The staff were the highlight for me with the location and price. They were friendly and helpful but left you to do as you wanted. They were so helpful with calling my transfer to confirm my pickup, helping me find where my meeting point for a tour was, answering my questions about the local area etc. There was also a friendly atmosphere between the guests.
I would happily stay at the Riad Africa again, thank you!
We had a very pleasant stay at Riad Africa as a group of 7.
The staff were friendly, helpful and very responsive throughout our stay. When we arrived, they gave us a tour of the riad and explained the facilities clearly, which made us feel very welcome.
I was especially impressed that a member of staff was still there to greet us when we returned at around 2am. Even before arriving in Morocco, I already had a very good impression of the team because they were always responsive and helpful when we communicated by email.
The location is excellent and very convenient for exploring Marrakech. You can easily access many of the main areas on foot. The riad itself is slightly hidden inside the small streets of the Medina, but we actually liked this because it meant there was much less noise from the busy streets outside.
One small point about breakfast is that it seemed there was only one round of hot coffee prepared. If you came down for breakfast around 8:30am, the coffee could already be quite cool. It would be better if fresh hot coffee could be topped up during the breakfast period.
Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay and would happily recommend Riad Africa to anyone visiting Marrakech.
Riad Africa an amazing hidden gem!! Although it is tucked away behind the main busy street and we did have a little trouble finding it initially, when we arrived the welcome from the staff was amazing! No hesitation to get us checked in early and a complimentary Moroccan tea and sweet bites upon our arrival. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful throughout our stay!
The two plunge pools were a welcome break from the heat of the city to cool off during the afternoon and a nice opportunity to relax and chat to the family and other guests! Both pools spotlessly clean and clean complimentary towels provided all day.
The room was an amazing traditional Moroccan space with large comfortable beds and very efficient air conditioning! Plenty of plug sockets and the bathroom was like a mini Roman spa with good quality toiletries and moisturisers provided and a lovely shower with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was provided in the price which was great value and this was a mix of traditional Moroccan and continental selection and plenty of tea and coffee and juices.
All in all Road Africa is the perfect place to stay in Marrakesh, close enough to walk to all the tourist and cultural areas but away from the noise of the busy street markets. When we visit Marrakech again we will be booking again! Diolch 🫶
I’m shocked by some of the reviews for this Riad, I visited in December 2025 second time after staying in their sister hotel in the Atlas Mountains. I loved this Riad, food was fantastic, staff fantastic, location fantastic. I’m coming back next year and this is the only riad that I will stay in because I felt safe here ❤️❤️
