Very disappointing experience, very dirty hotel, large ants in room and broken air conditioning

Unfortunately our stay at the Kenzi Rose Garden in Marrakech was seriously affected by issues with our room.

We started finding large ants throughout the room crawling on cabinets, bed, hiding under bins and chairs which indicates this room isn’t being cleaned properly! It wasn’t just one or two, there were around 20/30 large ants appearing in different areas of the room. We were extremely uncomfortable and reported the issue.

Kept finding them over night ncluding one on the bed crawling on my baby’s pillow. At this point I was genuinely distressed and frightened to be in the room. I ended up crying in the bathroom because I was so upset and didn’t feel comfortable going back into the room while my partner and child were asleep.

On top of this, the air conditioning in our room was not working which made the situation even worse. In the Marrakech heat, functioning air conditioning is not a luxury — it is an essential part of having a comfortable and acceptable hotel room.

Trying to get the situation resolved was also difficult because of the language barrier when dealing with reception, which made an already stressful situation even more frustrating.

I appreciate that problems can occasionally happen in hotels but having a room with a significant ant problem, finding ants on the bed, and having no working air conditioning is simply not acceptable for the standard I would expect from this hotel.

What made this particularly upsetting was that we were travelling with our young child and should have been able to relax and enjoy our holiday rather than worrying about insects in our room and being unable to properly cool the room.

Unfortunately these issues had a real impact on our stay and our overall experience of the hotel. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures rooms are properly checked for pest problems and that essential facilities such as air conditioning are working before guests are allocated the room

Our stay at Kenzi Rose Garden was absolutely wonderful! The hotel is beautiful, perfectly located, and surrounded by lovely gardens. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the swimming pools were amazing, and the food was delicious with plenty of choices. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help.

A special thank you to the entertainment team for making our stay even more enjoyable! Their energy, kindness, and enthusiasm created such a fun and lively atmosphere. The activities were entertaining and suitable for everyone, making every day memorable. Thank you for your smiles, professionalism, and positive energy. You truly made our holiday unforgettable. We will definitely come back! ❤️☀️

I stayed at this hotel with my children and my mother for 10 nights. My honest opinion is that it’s a nice, clean hotel with highly experienced members of staff, and their service is exceptional. My children loved staying at the hotel. However, when you’re staying for a longer period, children need entertainment, and unfortunately, the hotel lacks entertainment, which is a shame. As for the food, breakfast was amazing, with so many choices. Dinner was nice too, but there were quite a lot of repeated dishes during our 10-night stay. Overall, though, the food was enjoyable. In general, we had a good stay, and would I go back again? Yes, I would. However, I probably wouldn’t return with the kids, as they would prefer somewhere that offers more entertainment and activities for children. The rooms also need some renovation. In my opinion, they don’t quite meet the standard I would expect from a 5-star hotel, especially the flooring, which looks very worn out. Overall, based mainly on the lack of entertainment and the condition of the rooms, I would give this hotel 4 stars.
