Morocco, Africa
Marrakech

This hotel faces the mythic ramparts and luxuriant royal gardens of Agdal, an enviable setting in the red capital of Morocco. Just 10 minutes from the principal tourist attractions of Marrakech and its surroundings, the hotel is near the atmospheric Jamaa El Fna Square, the colonial quarter of Gueliz and Menara - Marrakech Airport is only 4 km away. This city spa resort welcomes holidaymakers and business travellers alike, with a wide array of facilities available. Business guests can take advantage of the well-equipped conference facilities which are offered by this establishment. After a busy day, guests can retire to their fully furnished rooms which offer a spectacular view of the Atlas Mountains from the balcony.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Decent hotel, not amazing but also not bad

Decent hotel, not great, not bad just ok. I visited August 2026

Cons: You have to go to a room on the 1st floor to iron your clothes, they do not allow irons in bedrooms

Meal variety at lunch and dinner is not great, very limited, not much options at all.

Not many other restaurants/snack bars for you to enjoy during the day except the one à la carte restaurant.

You have to pay for drinks at lunch and dinner, it is not included.

Cleanliness at breakfast could be better.

Hardly any entertainment

Pros:

Venue location is in the middle of everywhere so not too far of a journey when going places

Overall clean

People are helpful and nice

Good value for money

Avoid this hotel — serious food safety, hygiene, and maintenance issues

We were extremely unwell during our stay — ill enough to call out a doctor, who confirmed gastroenteritis and gave an injection to control the vomiting and diarrhoea. He mentioned this was his fourth visit to the hotel that week. Separately, while waiting for our airport transfer, another guest was arranging a pharmacy visit for the same symptoms. If a guest needs a doctor called to a hotel, management should want to know exactly what went wrong — that didn’t happen here.

None of this was a surprise once you’d seen the kitchen practices: staff handling food bare-handed with no gloves, no visible temperature checks on hot-held food, and food safety generally poorly managed. The pool bar/snack bar was hit and miss — often empty, and poor quality when stocked.

We also saw staff being publicly reprimanded in front of guests, and noticeably preferential treatment shown to certain guests over others.

Management response: PR manager Mouad offered a 150 MAD meal at one of the other two restaurants, despite all three being served from the same kitchen — the same risk, in other words — then stopped replying altogether. I also emailed General Manager Ibtissam Jamili directly; no reply.

Her eventual public response, posted only after this review went up, states that a gastroenteritis diagnosis doesn’t in itself prove the illness came from the hotel’s food, and that our account of the room, pool, and maintenance issues are “allegations” referred internally “for verification.” I’d note that a doctor’s diagnosis, multiple other guests reporting the same symptoms in the same week, and hazards we photographed ourselves aren’t allegations — they’re what happened. “Awaiting internal verification” of things a guest personally witnessed and documented isn’t accountability, it’s a holding statement.

One real bright spot: Sherif, who’d booked our trip, was the only staff member who took this seriously — he refunded 400 MAD of our 1,000 MAD booking and arranged taxis to the pharmacy. The barman was also consistently friendly and good company.

Given the illness, the safety and hygiene issues throughout, and a management response that leans on technicalities rather than addressing any of it — I’d book elsewhere.

Would we go back. You bet we would.

The hotel is situated a short taxi ride ( there is a free shuttle mini bus to & from the hotel) to the centre of Marrakech and a shot walk to a carrefour supermarket with a few extra shops. The whole staff were allways happy, frendly & helpful and even the housekeeping staff always said hello / bonjour. At lunch times it could be difficult to attract a walters attention for drinks. All the staff spoke good English, & French. We wanted to book a trip to the socks and the concierge told us what trips was available and how much all the trips were but didn't pressurise us, then set up a guide for the socks, who was invaluable, for us. I think we would have got lost many times without him. Housekeeping came round every day & kept us spick & span. The pool is massive about 1.5m deep with the end nearest to the bar for toddlers and there was a separate pool about 1.1 m deep for youngsters. The animation staff were enthusiastic & played a good range of upbeat international music throughout the day by the pool, with waterpolo & aqua aerobics taking place ever day. There was plenty of room left for swimming etc while these were going on. The hotel has a policy of not reserving sunbeds, that the staff did not seem to enforce, but this was not a problem as there was plenty of sunbeds. Try the cabanas behind the sunbeds if you can. The staff would move parasols & sun beds not in use, if asked if you couldn't manage them. There was a good selection of hot & cold tasty food available at every meal. The hot food was labeled in English & French. The food is a selection of manly European and Moroccan food. We paid the extra 150 dirhams to eat at the morrocan resterant and it was well worth it. Adul the water in the moroccan resterant is VERY happy.. lovley Guy. We used the spa facilities, we had a traditional hammem and & a massage.. it was a bit pricy but so worth it. They provide paper underware but are optional for woman. My husband wore swimming trunks. We were given robes to move about in. Last mention to the 2 young guys in the bar. Most nights we had pre dinner cocktails. The first night I asked if I could have a mojoto with pineapple juice & they said off course, & would remember our drinks and bring them to our table ever night. They were funny and for me the icing on the cake. Loved them. Would we go back? You bet we would, next time at a slightly cooler time of year. We went in August.

A great hotel, great food and lovely staff.

The hotel is lovely, with a massive pool and plenty of sun loungers. The rooms are very spacious and exceptionally clean. Food is excellent and lots of choice. The reception staff couldn’t be more helpful. The staff in the main bar, Abdellah, Zakaria and Amine made the holiday for us. They went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed and were very entertaining. We are going back for our third visit very soon and know we will get a lovely welcome.

Kenzi Menara Palace Marrakesh

At arrival a bit of an issue with rooms. Booked three rooms reception said we only had one. Eventually it got sorted out after about two hours.

Staff let us have lunch whilst this was being sorted which was good of them.

Rooms good. Very big and spacious.

Grounds very good and well kept. Pool very big and spacious. Everything was kept nice and tidy.

Food- Good choices if you are meat eaters. For vegetarian or vegan very very minimal options. As our party of six were all vegetarian choices were very limited.

None of the food was labelled as I have noted in hotels in other countries. Maybe requirements in Morocco are different but would help if it was labelled. For example people who are vegetarian or don’t eat eggs would have to ask the staff each time.

We had all inclusive package but be aware mini fridge is not included. I didn’t even open the fridge during my stay so was very surprised to be told I used up one chocolate bar during check out.

It’s very small things like this which takes the edge off a good stay.

Staff - Generally good.

Outside hotel is sparse so don’t expect to see too much. The area is mainly designated tourist destination. There is a shopping mall approximately twenty minutes walk but prices inside mall expensive. Food inside mall fairly cheap though.
