Location: close to the airport and in secluded area behind the Savoy. Some air traffic audible from balconies and beach. Atmosphere: adults only. Not much music or in fact any party vibe. The Hot Rock does a disco night once a week and it’s absolutely awful. Lots of men on the dance floor. Remarks/looks etc, didn’t feel enjoyable for a female. The staff are all very friendly and polite. Problem: Horrendous heavy demolition noise from next door made the floor and bed shake from 8am til 6:30pm. (See photos) The demolition site is separated by a wall and some weird fabric that offers no protection. It was not the worst: there was the fine dust. God knows if that had asbestos in it. I woke up with an allergy the 2nd night, used all tissues available in the room (3 boxes), then complained the next day because I didn’t have any doors open and yet the floor in my bedroom was covered in dust. It came through the aircon. Of course they didn’t know what to do about it and I was told they would send someone to clean the filter in my room. Ridiculous, as the cleaning staff came every day to wet clean the floors in every room!! A massive and undeniable problem and health hazard that gave me a severe cough and spoiled my 10 day vacation. And the hotel WiFi did indeed block Tripadvisor so I couldn’t leave my review whilst in location. Food: in my opinion the Turkish restaurant is probably the best. Saying that and having been in 5 star hotels in Cairo and 5 star Nile cruises I have come to the conclusion that Egypt has to import most of their food and due to its limited resources cooking culture is poor. The Egyptian restaurant in ugly neon lit Soho Square has the worst atmosphere ever and the waiters threw the food onto the table and were so stressed. The food was disgusting in every way. Gym: excellent equipment and staff. Beach: a tiny strip. Snorkelling is underwhelming as the coral reef is dead but one can see a few colourful fish. You get a glimpse of the sunrise in the morning from the beach but sunset is not available from here. This is not a hotel I would return to even without the demolition issue. It had a strange atmosphere, rather stiff and lacking the joy fullness one would like to experience on holiday. The Savoy has the slightly larger strip of beach with better views. It’s a strange arrangement between the two hotels, because if the Savoy wasn’t there the Royal Savoy would be non functional.
Hotel was lovely, food was amazing and choice of restaurants was fantastic.
Every morning Islam would have our cabana ready for us, remembering what we like and a cool box of water on ice ready for us each day. Poolside service, mango juice and iced coffees were very refreshing.
You could snorkel of the pier, and the fish were incredible, so many to see, saw rays and loads of different tropical fish. Recommend bringing a snorkel with you.
There was one disappointing aspect for us, the site next door is currently a building site, and it was very noisy with building and a jack hammer going constantly. We did mention this to the hotel and the manager was very understanding and upgraded us to a Junior Suite to make our stay more comfortable. However I feel these building works will be going on for a long time as they are building a new resort.
Overall, a great holiday and if it wasn’t for the building works, it would have been 5 stars all round.
We stayed at the Royal Savoy Hotel in October 2026. The hotel had made a lasting impression on us during our first visit in April 2026, so we decided to stay there again. Everything about the hotel is excellent—top-tier service, housekeeping, and the dining experience across all à la carte restaurants, bars, and the beach area. We would like to extend special thanks to the senior manager, Mr. Emad Beshay—who personally knows the guests and takes a genuine interest in their preferences—and to the receptionist, Beshay, who checked us into a wonderful, spacious room. We highly recommend this hotel for a refined and personalized vacation experience!
Ok let’s get it out of the way, yes there is building work going on next door, but I assure you it really doesn’t affect your holiday. Yes, there is some dust but Egypt is a desert state of course there will be dust. The hotel does EVERYTHING it can to make sure surfaces are dusted constantly so again I doubt it will affect your holiday. Food is superb, staff are 110%, snorkelling is the best I have ever done, pools are lovely. Finally the rooms are fantastic cleaned perfectly every day with fresh bedding the quality of which is the best O have ever slept in abroad. Royal Savoy provided us with a great value holiday we don’t think we could afford before the end of the year. I would happily return and recommend to anyone.
