DoubleTree by Hilton Sharm El Sheikh - Sharm Bay

Well its a Hotel of 2 parts, Mountain Side and Beach side, we stayed on the Mountain side and I will make this as honest as possible, the Mountain side is very large and to be fair has lovely Gardens and huge pools, padded sunbeds and some of the staff are outstanding but there are a few buts, on arrival we checked in easily but no welcome drink which is usually a nice touch, taken to our room which although dated was large with a pool view on the ground floor, then upon opening the fridge it was a sign of things to come, it only contained two 500ml little bottles of water, no soft drinks no beer etc which was restocked with 2 tiny bottles of water everyday, it was 30 degrees plus and that is nowhere near enough, yes you can get plastic cups of water from the beach bars and Hotel bars but no bottles, we ended up raiding the cleaners trolley everyday.

As mentioned the pools are great and a shout out to Kotty the lifeguard who was very attentive.

The Buffet restaurant we thought was poor, tables rarely laid up and had to search for staff to get cutlery etc, food was bland and there always seemed to be a lack of plates and cups but again some members of staff where lovely, Mia and Mohamed did try to look after us.

We ate once at the Asian which was ok but unfortunately next day had had a dose of Pharoahs revenge for 3 days.

The 2 bars on the Mountainside where ok but a lack of choice and hardly any atmosphere or entertainment, we stayed next door at the Sunsise Arabian Beach resort 2 years ago and the entertainment there was very good most nights and a much larger choice of drinks and on the other side of Hotel is White Hills resort which having spoken to a few people is out standing.

Now to the Beach side, in my opinion much cleaner overall and the buffet restaurant is less of a bun fight, tables laid up and cleaned and drinks delivered on arrival, this must be a management issue as it was completely different to Mountain Side. The food alas was pretty much the same a bit bland and strangely they had a habit hiding the butter !!

We ate at the Cala restaurant most nights which is by the beach and a very nice setting, food was good and service by Mohamed was very good so a shout out to him.

The Beach is very small and the snorkelling area the size of a postage stamp !! I am a diver but did not even bother snorkelling as it was so busy and cramped.

There is an outside show on the Mountainside of sorts but it looked pretty poor so we did not bother as it was sort of like a theatre set up.

So to sum up, they need to do better I know its a Hilton franchise but it does not live up to the Hilton name alas I will not be returning and in my opinion there are far better Hotels in Sharm although the Staff do try there best with what they have to offer.

Absolutely fantastic holiday, our first without the kids and we have loved it, every member of staff are fantastic, exspecially Mohamed mustafa, every single meal time there was a smile and welcoming, always helped with drinks I don’t think I’ve carried my own drink for 10 days haha, thankyou for making our holiday so memorable, it’s been such a pleasure to meet you all xx

I would like to massively praise the Cala Restaurant with Mohamed Bahi and his team and Chiefs. We had such an amazing meal and fantastic service. Would recommend to all guests.

Five star for this restaurant but hotel definitely not 5 star
