Located in the Sharks Bay area of Sharm El Sheikh, DoubleTree by Hilton offers a vibrant holiday setting close to the Red Sea’s crystal-clear waters. The resort is set across landscaped grounds and is ideal for couples, friends, and families looking to enjoy both relaxation and activities under the Egyptian sun.
Guests can enjoy multiple outdoor swimming pools surrounded by sun terraces, with dedicated areas for children. The resort offers a choice of restaurants serving international and local cuisine, and several bars including poolside and beach options. Additional amenities include a fitness centre, spa with a range of treatments, and various sports facilities.
Rooms are modern and comfortable, each featuring air conditioning, a private balcony or terrace, satellite TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a safe. Bathrooms come with a shower or bathtub, hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. Upgraded rooms and suites offer extra space and enhanced amenities, some with sea views.
Mountainside On arrival, the reception team were far from welcoming. There was no hello or good evening, and unfortunately, no warm cookie either. We arrived just after midnight and were told that food would still be available for another 30 minutes, although we didn’t want anything to eat.
Our two rooms were large and clean. They were a little dated, but perfectly acceptable and comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size and had Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries and a BaByliss hairdryer.
The grounds are beautifully maintained, lovely and flat, and very easy to get around. There are three pools, including an adults-only pool, which was absolute bliss. The lifeguards were quick to act if a child entered the adults-only pool, which was reassuring.
The restaurant was large and clean, but unfortunately not big enough for the number of guests. It became extremely busy around both lunch and dinner times. There was always plenty of food available, although we did find the choice became repetitive during our stay.
The restaurant staff, bar staff, housekeepers and gardeners could not do enough for us and were always there with a smile. Unfortunately, we found the management team extremely standoffish. They rarely acknowledged guests when walking past, and on one occasion, a member of management did not even hold the door open when we were directly behind him.
The animation team were probably the biggest disappointment of the hotel. We received very little acknowledgment from them and rarely saw a smile. There were limited activities during the day, and the evening entertainment takes place at the stage next to the main gates, rather than within the main hotel grounds.
One incident particularly stood out. A man slipped at the pool and went down with a loud clatter. An animation team member was standing nearby but did not even look up from their phone to see if he was okay. In my opinion, that was extremely disappointing and showed a real lack of care.
Soho Square is around a five- to ten-minute walk from the hotel and is definitely worth a visit.
Overall, there are plenty of positives here: the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds are lovely, the pools are excellent, and the majority of the staff are friendly and hardworking. However, the lack of warmth from reception and management, along with the animation team, really let the hotel down. If you stay here, I would definitely recommend getting out and about, booking some excursions and exploring.
Sharm El Sheikh and the surrounding area are well worth seeing. This is a wonderful part of the world, so don't spend your entire holiday inside the hotel.
The room service and housekeeping staff were honestly very nice and helpful, especially the people taking care of our rooms. Mena, the lifeguard at the pool, was also really kind and attentive, and the chef was extremely respectful and friendly. However, the check-in process took a very long time, and the construction work was extremely loud and started very early in the morning, which was very disturbing. The biggest issue, though, was the attitude of some of the staff, especially at the restaurant. We often felt like we were bothering them whenever we asked for something, even if it was something very simple. For example, we would have to wait for someone to bring us cutlery, and when we asked for enough for our whole group, the staff member would seem annoyed. At one point, we asked for water and were told to get it ourselves, even though we could see staff bringing water and drinks to other tables.
At the pool, the staff member responsible for towels refused twice to give us towels without a card, even after we explained that the hotel had told us there were currently no cards available and that we should still be given towels. The golf carts were also not readily available when we needed them, and on our way out the golf cart actually refused to turn back and take the rest of us to the car. Another very upsetting situation happened at the pool bar when my younger sister was standing in line and one of the staff members completely skipped her and started serving the foreign guest behind her. The guest herself eventually had to point out that my sister had been waiting before her. Unfortunately, these weren’t just one-time incidents. We noticed this kind of attitude more than once, and the difference in the way some guests were treated was quite noticeable. There were definitely some lovely and professional staff members who made our stay better, but the inconsistency in the service and the attitude of some of the staff was disappointing and affected our overall experience
Here’s a firm, detailed review that communicates what happened without sounding exaggerated. Keeping it factual will make the complaint more credible.
Very Disappointing Experience – Poor Treatment of Families and Asian Guests
Unfortunately, our stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Sharm El Sheikh has been extremely disappointing. While I want to make it clear that not all staff members have been problematic, several interactions have been rude, disrespectful, and completely below the standard I would expect from a Hilton property. I was particularly uncomfortable with the way some staff interacted with families and Asian guests.
One of the worst experiences occurred at the Asia in-house restaurant. We had a booking for 10 people, but the manager insisted that our reservation was only for 5. He argued with us for around 10 minutes before eventually realizing that he had misread the booking. Reception also helped clarify the situation.
What happened afterwards was even more frustrating. Our group of 10 arrived to dine while the restaurant was practically empty, yet we were told that we would have to split into two groups of five and sit in completely different areas of the restaurant. Given how empty the restaurant was, this made absolutely no sense and felt like we were being treated this way because of the earlier disagreement.
I eventually approached a more senior manager, who was professional, respectful and helpful. He understood the situation, agreed that it had not been handled correctly, and arranged for all 10 of us to sit together. I appreciate his intervention, but guests should not have to escalate such a simple situation to senior management just to be treated reasonably.
We have also experienced poor treatment from some of the poolside towel staff. Throughout the resort, guests wake up early and reserve sunbeds with towels. After seeing this happening everywhere, I did the same, only to be specifically told by the towel staff that I would lose my sunbed if I did not return within 45 minutes. I questioned why this rule appeared to be enforced against me while numerous other guests were doing exactly the same thing. If this is hotel policy, it should be clearly and consistently applied to everyone, rather than selectively enforced.
The food has also been a major disappointment. In my opinion, the quality is very low for a hotel of this category, and the way the buffet is replenished is among the poorest I have experienced. Food regularly runs low and the overall dining experience does not meet the standard I expected.
What concerns me most is not one isolated incident, but the overall pattern of how certain staff members communicate with and treat guests. Based on what I personally experienced and observed, I was particularly concerned about the treatment of Asian guests and families. Management should take this seriously and review how staff are trained and how hotel policies are enforced.
There are some kind and professional staff members here, and I do not want my review to unfairly include them. Unfortunately, the behaviour of a few staff members can seriously damage an entire holiday experience.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend DoubleTree by Hilton Sharm El Sheikh, and I would not choose to stay here again.
I don't usually write reviews about the bar staff on holidays, however I think Walid and Moamem from the bars here at Doubletree are amazing, they work such long hours and both go above and beyond to put the guests first and make sure everyone is happy and has a drink in hand. Walid is such a happy person, his English is fantastic, he's such a funny guy too, always smiling and making us laugh. Both he and Moamem work so hard, they never stop all day! They really do make the bar experience here fantastic and have made our stay here the best 🤩
This was our forth visit we had 19 days this time and it was amazing, we couldn’t of been looked after anymore by the staff, they are all so kind and welcoming and they all work so hard, we will definitely be returning next year as they are friends now! His hotel is exceptional value for money. The food this time was the best ever and the organisation of the food areas was much better than before, the pools are all out standing and the levels of cleanliness go above and beyond. The guys coming round doing trips are great especially Mustafa from the Dive centre his boat trip ls are best and great value. If I had one complaint I would say the entertainment in the day wasn’t as good on mountain side as last year, I think possibly that has moved more to beachside, but the night time pool party was new and so much fun. The onsite shop is ace for snacks at night and gifts we visited most days and the owner is lovely. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Finally special shouts out to our faves who made our holiday the best! Ibrahim Abdul Aziz - poolside manager🥰 Mostafa Mahnood - life guard Ziad Ahmwd - recreation 🥰 Hisham Marawan - life guard 🥰 Ahmed Aly - beachside restaurant manager 🥰 Mina Nabil - bar All beaches bar staff and waiter missed their names sorry Mohamed Ebrahim - waiter Mohamden Abd Al Raouf - waiter 🥰 Khadir ismal - waiter These guys were the ones that made our stay above and beyond and the ones we will go back to see, lots of love to our Egyptian family - our happy place!!
