This is a very good hotel for the money. There’s several staff members who would be at home at any hotel in terms of their level of service & friendliness. These people can really make a difference to a holiday. There’s two guys called Mohammed at the Island bar who make you feel like royalty when you approach. Sensational attitude & work ethic.
We would highly recommend getting a swim up room as they’re very well located to the beach, bars & restaurant, with convenient access to laze away if you felt the urge. Room was ok in terms of size, cleaner (Ahmed) was fantastic & the air con was great & I really miss that shower. No complaints from me.
The entertainment team are always up to something & I appreciated that they’d respect our choices to be involved or not. They obviously work extremely hard to maintain an atmosphere throughout the day & in to the evening.
Try to book the Al a cartes where possible. The buffet was too busy at certain points & sometimes distracted from the food which was, on the whole, good. The seafood restaurant (which is an extra charge) was worth the money & Ramadan the waiter makes it an experience. You certainly won’t go hungry at this hotel no matter where you decide to eat. We went during UK school holidays, so I have to balance these comments with the inevitable high hotel occupancy. Coffee in the lobby bar is way better than the buffet machines. Sports bar is a great spot for an afternoon beer. Massages in the spa are very good value if you haggle for two or three for the price of one.
You have plenty of everything at this hotel. It was hard to find any negatives & I think the only time I found my frown was at the on-site tuck shop which unapologetically tried to charge me 400EGP (about £5.80) for a Snickers bar. After seeing my obvious disgust, this was quickly halved. The other tiny gripe was that the hotel is on a terraced incline with quite a few steps from the beach to reception (not a problem). A little mini bus does shuttles all the time, but often we found too many people wanting to go at the same time, so the wait could be long & not all nationalities understand the British art of queuing patiently.
Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate in booking this again. If you’re deliberating between a couple of different resorts, I’d say go for this one. Enjoy
Upon arrival first impressions were really good!!..on the next day we went to buy cigarettes from shop within hotel!.the young lad there was vastly over pricing the cigarettes so I said I won’t pay that for them!..he then started pushing me with his hip back into his shop so I pushed him out of the way!.my friend Sian was with me he then grabbed her wrist, trying to pull her back into his shop but we eventually just walked away!.we also found out from another English lady that was staying at the hotel that she tried to buy a packet of chewing gum & he tried to charge £5 for one packet!we went the entertainment one night & my friend Sian said she was going to look at the jewellery shop!..when she came back she told one of the young lads grabbed her hand & said unless you kiss me I won’t let go,she kissed him on the cheek because she was scared!.eventually the young lads pushed her up against the shop window & tried kissing her on the lips, she managed to get away from him!.we reported this to the entertainment manager & he was so good & reported to the management.a few days later we noticed most of the lads that worked in shops where not there anymore & later found out they had been thrown off the site by management!!..the most amazing thing is we did not get an apology off the management & to be honest quite a serious situation plus telling us we where secure as these shop staff where not there anymore!..I will say the staff where amazing but I have my doubts about the management
Third review as first two were declined!!!
Food - the main restaurant is far too small for the size of the resort. It is utter chaos at breakfast. Pushed around, hygiene non existent - adults and kids, picking up bread and pastries with fingers then putting them back! Preferential treatment for non English- they are the “special guests!” I was told!
Dinner isn’t much better. Contaminated serving utensils, ran out of food fast, not relaxing at all all, reminded me of a school canteen!
À la carte is mediocre with the exception of the Mangal which was delicious.
Day entertainment team worked very hard. No idea how to describe the evening entertainment though. Watching 4 women do a sexy catwalk, an impression of a chicken and then ask men to take their clothes off (winner being the woman with the most amount of men’s items!) made me wonder where on earth we had come. I think the fact the manager asked guests 4 times if they had enjoyed the entertainment at the end of the show and received little to no feedback should provide a good indication that this is just not “entertaining”
Massage - terrible experience. Masseuse has one hand on me and the other in her phone!!!! NEVER had this experience before in any spa.
We have visited Sharm many many times before. We would not return to this hotel for the same price, there are many others that set higher standards and deliver exceptional customer service.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Family Holiday – Sunrise Grand Montemare
We’ve just returned from an amazing fortnight at the Sunrise Grand Montemare, and honestly, from start to finish, this has been the best family holiday we’ve ever had.
From the moment we arrived, everything was fantastic. Check-in was prompt and efficient, and the staff even went above and beyond by arranging for my passport to be collected after I somehow managed to leave it at the airport! That alone says a lot about the level of service at this hotel.
Our Room & Posh Club Upgrade
Our initial room was quite small for our family of four. This is absolutely not the hotel’s fault, but I do think TUI should perhaps reconsider advertising some of these rooms as suitable for four people.
We went back to reception to ask about an upgrade and were offered the Posh Club. The manager kindly showed us the room and our family were smitten straight away! We asked about the price and were given a fantastic deal.
It was honestly the best decision we made.
The Posh Club upgrade completely transformed our holiday and helped make what was already looking like a great holiday into an absolutely incredible one.
🌟 The Staff – Absolutely Outstanding
The staff at this hotel are genuinely exceptional. There were three people in particular who deserve a special mention. Apologies if I have got any of their names slightly wrong!
❤️ Merna – Posh Club Supervisor
Merna was absolutely amazing from start to finish.
Nothing was ever too much trouble, regardless of what we asked for. Every request was dealt with promptly, professionally and with a smile.
She is absolutely superb at her job and is a huge credit to the hotel. Her level of service really stood out and helped make our stay so enjoyable.
🍳 Ahmed – Omelette Chef
Ahmed was another absolute star.
Not only was he brilliant at his job and made some fantastic omelettes, but he was also such a genuinely lovely person.
A great member of staff and, once again, a real credit to the hotel.
😊 Mahmoud – Concierge
And then there’s Mahmoud, who was always there with a smile.
Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he was just a genuinely fantastic person. His attitude and friendliness really stood out throughout our stay.
Another member of staff who is a massive credit to the hotel.
🍽️ Food
The food was superb throughout our stay.
The main buffet, Posh Club and à la carte restaurants were all excellent, with plenty of choice and consistently good quality.
We were genuinely impressed with the standard of food across the resort.
🎭 Entertainment
The entertainment was also very good, which, as many people will know, can sometimes be a bit hit and miss in Egypt.
There was plenty going on and we really enjoyed the entertainment throughout our stay.
🏨 The Resort
One thing that really impressed us was the size and layout of the hotel.
The resort was at full capacity while we were there, but you would honestly never have known it.
It is absolutely huge, with so much space that it never felt overcrowded or claustrophobic. There are plenty of areas to relax, and the whole resort is very well laid out.
❤️ Would We Return?
Absolutely 100% yes!
We genuinely cannot find any negatives about our stay.
From the fantastic staff and superb food to the beautiful resort and the amazing service, everything came together to make this the best family holiday we have ever had.
A massive thank you to everyone at the Sunrise Grand Montemare for making our fortnight so special.
And as they say...
“WELCOME HOME!” ❤️
We’ll definitely be back! 🇪🇬☀️
We have just returned from an amazing family holiday to this resort and we still can’t get over how lovely every one was and they couldn’t do enough to make our stay so enjoyable.
We travelled with a 12, 13 and 16 year old and the animation crew were brilliant at getting them involved. I take my hat off to their energy levels and in particular need to do a shout out to Loka, what a guy and so much fun, the kids are still talking about how great he was! Another shout out to Mustafa who worked as a life guard and on the slides, the kids loved him, as did we.
Other mentions need to go to George who worked for the Nemo Dive Centre, my husband enjoyed one of his best ever wreck dives with them and George also got all of the kids into the pool for a scuba taster session.
Also a couple of shout outs to two great bar tenders - Omar who worked in the Velo Sports Bar and the Lobby Bar, then Ahmed working by the pool, we miss those ice coffees and surprise cocktails!!
The hotel itself was spotless and such a pleasure to now have to fight for a sun lounger first thing, plenty to go around both poolside and on the beach. The hotel oneself has its own jetty with a reef for snorkelling, simply gorgeous!
There were plenty of restaurants to book to keep the food options varied and we enjoyed all of them, with service great in all.
We only have two negative experiences, one being the chargeable fish restaurant, they don’t tell you that you also have to pay for your drinks, which are exactly the same as the ones included in the all inclusive package! To further add insult to this, they walk past you from the same bar to deliver the inclusive drinks to the restaurant in front of you! So to be honest I’d say this really isn’t worth it and instead maybe a rethink by the hotel to keep the drinks included, given their the same as we had enjoyed the night before from the restaurant beside it. We were also promised a “romantic” spot on the beach, this wasn’t true either!
Only other negative was my daughter had her hair braided and we were told she could go back before we left to get it done for nothing. When we went back they wanted to charge £20, so needless to say she was disappointed because she’d used her holiday money to pay for this and had already cost £53!
I don’t want to end on a negative because overall the rest far outweighs these experiences so just wanted fellow travellers to be aware.
Hotel great, staff great, food great, animation team brilliant. We also did some great tours with TUI. Hotel went the extra mile also putting on a foam party and beach party which we all loved.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for any families
