Pool

We were staying -two families with five kids- in the hotel in October 2024. And had very bad experience - the hotel deserves maybe 2-3 stars as it is old, unloved and not clean. 

Food was avarage quality, buffet area and rooms had disgusting smell of oldness. Restaurants - workers are not interested to make them cozy and comfortable, food was avarage. 

The pool which should be warm, was cold five days of seven. So kids did not to use it.

The worst - three adults of four and kids had bad stomach pain and diarrhea after two days of staying in the hotel. We think it was from ice used in cocktails or pool water. 

What was really beautiful is territory of the hotel - very green, with a lot of beautiful trees.

Not 5-star hotel

Dear Monte Carlo team! I’m very sorry to write quite bad review, but I can’t lie. I was reading so many good reviews from here before my trip and I’m a little disappointed in the previous feedback writers. I think they are not honest in their feedbacks.
I have two previous experiences in Hurghada hotels: Sunrise Aqua Joy Resort and Seagull resort. I have to be honest. Previous experiences in Hurghada hotels are many times better than Monte Carlo in Sharm el Sheikh. Most of the pools in Monte Carlo hotel are cold, you can't use the water slides because the water is icy. Animation team is not kind to children, sometimes it seems to me that my children are not welcome here. Evening animation is only by the animation team and a bit boring. Animation team members are NOT full of energy, as they should be. It seems like they are doing all this by force. A woman with curly hair who works in the playroom (also part of the animation team) doesn't know how to make contact with the children. Instead of explaining the situation to the children, she rips things out of their hands and puts them back. Um… Very nice 🤦‍♀️. I have to say my kids are very shy. 
And UAI is NOT UAI! This is just AI.
We paid unusually much for the trip, therefore expectations were high. In the hotel area there is no elevators, so you can walk and walk and walk…  And there are many stairs to walk and walk and walk. So if you have problems with your knees or you have babystroller, so this may be very big problem to you.

Of course there are good things too. Hotel team is mostly kind and helpful, especially the pancake maker in the morning buffet. He is very friendly with our kids. Unfortunately I can't say his name, but it sounded similar to Carlo. The hotel area is large, beautiful, and mostly well-maintained. So if you love walking or jogging or something, you would like to make it here.

I recently stayed at the Monte Carlo Sharm El Sheikh and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel boasts a vast green area, which is well-maintained and adds to the relaxing ambiance of the property.

I had opted for the All-Inclusive package, which had its pros and cons. On the positive side, the food served during breakfast, lunch, and dinner was quite good, with a decent variety and quality. However, the downside was the beverages. The All-Inclusive package only covers local alcohol, which I found to be of poor quality. For imported alcohol, you’ll need to pay extra.

Another downside was the hookah offered at the hotel, which was, unfortunately, the worst I have ever tried.

In summary, the Monte Carlo Sharm El Sheikh is a good choice if you prioritize a beautiful environment and decent food.

Review for Monte Carlo Sharm El Sheikh Hotel, stayed during last week of Dec 2024

Hotel has much improved since our last stay in 2021, although this is probably our 5th stay dating back from the Ritz Carlton days.  Apologies in advance of any mis-spelling of names. 

Pre-arrival Communication 
We booked a basic package in the UK via OTB and upgraded to the Royal Package on arrival. Communication with the Front Office Manager, Mahmoud, was excellent and he was also helpful during our stay.  Clearly outlined what was included in the package and ensured that our request for a room in a particular block was met. 

Arrival 
Collection at the airport was smooth and driver polite and professional.   Check-in was easy, made easier by the fact we knew the layout of the hotel.   Luggage transferred (along with us to the room).   We had arrived slightly late so escorted to the buffet to grab some food beforehand.   Staff were on-hand throughout our stay to transfer to rooms on golf carts if needed.   A much appreciated service!

Room (Number 454) 
The room was in the same block that we stayed before and I think one of the best blocks in relation to quiet location and views   Room was kept exceptionally clean by Ayad, who was always cheerful, and the room was light and bright.  Good to see that the showers had been upgraded which was excellent.  One slight issue with the landing outside of the room was that light working was intermittent.  We had an issue with the safe jamming and were unable to access it, but the engineers were quick to fix the issue.  

Royal Lounge
The service in the Lounge was excellent – provided by Hermina, Samer and Muhamed – all a credit to the hotel.  The food in the lounge was exceptional and Hermina never failed to impress with consistency of food and amazing taste.  Nothing was too much trouble for Samer and Muhamed (who also served in the Waves). 

Please give the Royal Lounge staff more assistance to deal with the birds that invade the lounge! 

The Lounge is advertised as being open in the evenings – it is not.  This is understandable when it is not full, but it would be good to have access to the more premium drinks in all bars/restaurants.   More sugar free drinks need to be available including low calorie/slim line tonic (in all bars and restaurants) – diet coke and the occasional sprite zero are not enough options for people who are unable medically or by choice to have sugar based drinks. 

We were under the impression that the Lounge was adult only but did notice that children were in here on breakfast on one occasion – if it is adult only then it needs to be so! 

Royal Beach 
A nice secluded area, but could do with access to a closer cold shower for when the weather is very hot. A sign at the entrance to the beach would also help the staff having to chase after guests who did not have access to the Royal Beach.  We were surprised to see that nearly 100% of the sunbeds were moved out of the beach on 31st December and taken to the main beach – many “Royal” guests were turning up looking for beds but non were available in the private area. 

Service here was a little inconsistent – some days full drinks service with ice bucket and snacks, other days minimal drinks and no snacks. 
In the afternoon we liked to go to the pool for a swim – it would be nice to have a “Royal” section by the pool for adults only.
 
Swimming Pools
The main pools look nice, but did have some hygiene issues.  The main heated pool is also too overrun by children especially when coming from the Adult Only Royal Beach.  We reported a hygiene issue on-site which was dealt with so will not repeat it here.   There does however, need to be more attention to the cleanliness of the pools.

Animation / Entertainment 
We did not participate in the activities but on occasion found the music far too loud (when sitting by the pool) and also the content of some of the music with very expletive swear words was not acceptable when young children present. 
In previous years there had been a singer in the Sky Bar/Reception during the evening – this appears to have been moved to outside the buffet leaving the Sky Bar / Reception rather lacking in ambience during the evening.  It definitely needs some life!  

Some external heaters would also be good for the cooler evenings on the Terrace.

We were amazed to see families sat in the reception area being told they could not play cards and we did not understand this rationale, especially when there was no gambling involved, or noise.  Especially when young children were allowed to run screaming around the reception and put their feet up on the tables and chairs. On one morning we also witnessed a number of people lying flat out asleep on the sofas – this is not a good look and does more harm than people playing cards! 

Sky Bar 
We always head to the Sky Bar before and after dinner.   Hany (Bars Manager) was excellent as always, ensuring we were looked after – a mix of friendliness, fun and professionalism.  Nothing is too much trouble and Hany is very knowledgeable about all aspects of the hotel and its services. 

Food 
I have already mentioned Hermina in the Lounge, but his excellent skills extend to the Chinese and Teppanyaki – the latter was excellent and we visited twice.  On both occasions the food was amazing and Hermina went out of his way to ensure that we received high levels of service.   Blue Ginger (Chinese) was also another favorite – food again served to a high standard.

We also visited La Luna – firstly on the night of the Gala Dinner.   We asked to eat at 20:00 but were called three times asking us to come before that time and on two of these occasions my partner was reminded that there was a  “dress code”  of shirt, trousers and shoes.  After the third call we went to the restaurant as soon as possible to find that it had not been necessary to rush to an earlier reservations.  We did finally sit at 7:30pm.  The food was OK but not high end, but again there was an inconsistency in service.   Even though we had been rushed to be seated people were still arriving after 20:30 be seated.  Guests were also being allowed in wearing shorts, t-shirts, flip flops and baseball caps. 

Our second visit to La Luna was equally disappointing.  We were the only ones in the restaurant and there was little ambience.  The food was OK, although the lamb chops were inedible. There was little offering available for desert and some of the items were not served as per the menu description. 

The Indian Restaurant was excellent.  The service was excellent (Aymand)  and the food was of a high standard.  The menu is relatively small in choice but we were asked to let the Chef know if we wanted any changes / enhancements to the menu. 
Waves Bar.  Again excellent.  Yasser always had a smile and service was good.  Pizza and burgers excellently presented for Royal members with that extra attention to detail that is appreciated. 

Although we saw people sat at the Waves Bar into the evening the promoted restaurant (Seafood) did not appear to be open which is a shame.
We did not eat at the Grill or the Lebanese restaurant so cannot comment. 
The Buffet (which we visited twice) is a little disappointing.   Some of the dishes are very tasty and well prepared, others not.  The majority of servers are very friendly and the Manager (Shady) was welcoming when we visited.  A little more attention could be given to the cleanliness of the tables, chairs and floors.  

New Years Eve Gala Dinner.  It was nice to see that this was included for Royal members – it had previously been an additional charge.   It was not however, our style of new years celebration so did advise that we would not be attending.   In previous years the only option had been to eat in the buffet, but this year Blue Ginger was open under the supervision of Hermina and Charm (excellent service).  The option to have an alternative seated and served dinner was much appreciated – thank you. 

Spa Services.   I had two treatments here booked via Muhamed – who was very professional and did the facial which was excellent.  All staff were professional but to be honest I would have liked some female presence or to be advised that female staff were available – I did not have any massage treatments as it was male dominated.  Equally I did not ask if female staff were available. 

The grounds are immaculate and the gardeners are unsung heroes that’s for sure.  It is a shame that more of the guests do not have the courtesy to even say hello to them! 

It really is the staff that make this resort and there are so many that could be mentioned – our standouts are definitely Hany, Hermina, Muhamed, Samer, Yasser, Charm, Aymand and Ayad – all of them should be commended on delivering exceptional service.

Much Improved / Excellent Staff

Starting with the good: 
The hotel and grounds are really well maintained especially the gardens which were absolutely beautiful. The solar panels on the roof were unobtrusive but a great idea. 
The terrace bar team lead by Hany were fantastic and helped make our holiday. Yaseen has a great sense of humour!! Ask Hany to make you one of his off menu cocktails and you won't be disappointed.
The room was very good and the water pressure in the shower is worth a special mention. 
The New Year's Eve gala was very good if a little loud at times. The buffet was off the scale! The three bottles of spirits on every table meant you were never waiting for a drink. 
The Chinese and Indian a la carte restaurants were excellent. 
The pool area was well maintained and the heated pool was a pleasure. 
The Waves bar served great fast food options. 
The snorkeling off the jetty was great. Plenty of masks were available if you hadn't got your own. 
The taxi service offered by the hotel was great. We had arranged a return time but wanted to come back earlier. They not only arranged this but sent us a photo of the car picking us up so we could find it easily at the pick up point. 
The only criticism we had was that the menu in the main restaurant was a little repetitive. The food was excellent but the same dishes appeared several times during our stay and the same could be said for the entertainment by the pool. The same songs were played on a loop and it could get very loud (and distorted) sometimes. 
All in all we had a great holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our first Christmas and New Year in the sun.
