This was my second stay at Meraki Hurghada Resort, and honestly, after these five days, I’m already sure that I’ll be coming back for a third stay next year. ❤️
Let me start from the very beginning — the reception.
Due to my bus schedule, I arrived at the resort very early, around 9:30 AM, even though the official check-in time is 2:00 PM.
As soon as we entered the reception, they asked us to sit down rather than stand at the counter. Then one of the staff members came to us, took our IDs, and gave us our wristbands.
After that, the manager actually invited us to have breakfast instead of the welcome drink 😄, and we completed the check-in process after breakfast.
The whole process was incredibly fast, and as soon as our room was ready, we were taken to it immediately. I was actually inside the room at around 11:00 AM!
I would especially like to thank Mr. Mohamed El-Sheimy, Reception Manager, who personally took care of us from the very beginning. He did everything he could to get us into our room as quickly as possible and kept checking on us and making sure everything was fine without us even having to ask.
That kind of personal attention really makes a difference in the overall experience.
Honestly, the variety of food is amazing.
Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there is plenty of variety every day. And what I personally loved most is that dinner has a completely different theme and style every night, so it never feels repetitive.
Lunch was actually a pleasant surprise for me.
At many all-inclusive resorts, lunch can feel like it is just there because dinner is considered the main meal. But at Meraki, lunch is taken seriously as well, and the quality and variety are genuinely impressive.
The chefs are also excellent.
You never feel like you are standing in front of them just asking for a fixed portion. They are helpful, friendly, and genuinely interested in making sure you get what you want.
The waiters are also very efficient, and it is obvious that they are focused on making the service as quick and comfortable as possible.
There are also four À La Carte restaurants: Chinese, Greek, Egyptian, and Seafood.
You can book them more than once, the portions are generous, and you can always order more if you want.
Another thing I really appreciated is the attention to detail in every restaurant — not just the food itself, but also the presentation, the atmosphere, the setup, and all the little details.
The snacks definitely deserve their own section.
The burger… I honestly have no words 😂
The Italian pizza is also excellent, and the noodles seem to be a huge favorite among guests. I personally didn’t try them because noodles aren’t really my thing.
And of course, I have to mention Chef Yousry.
Honestly, this guy is one of a kind 😂❤️
We would joke about craving a certain type of food, and somehow I would find it actually being prepared for us without any delay.
He was also incredibly attentive throughout our entire stay.
Even on our last day, when we were already planning to leave and weren’t even thinking about having lunch, he insisted that we have lunch before leaving. He even arranged for us to enter the restaurant specially before the official lunch time so we could have our meal before heading out.
And he also prepared some food for us to take on the road.
These may seem like small details, but honestly, these are exactly the things that make you remember a place and the people who work there.
As for the bars… honestly, there is a lot to say.
The bartenders are all very good, and one of the biggest advantages is that bars are spread throughout almost the entire resort, so you never have to walk a long distance just to find one.
The service level was consistently good across the different bars we visited.
Of course, you have the drinks, and there is also ice cream, which you would normally expect at an all-inclusive resort.
But for me, one surprisingly nice detail was that Turkish coffee is included for free.
At many resorts, Turkish coffee comes with an additional charge because it takes more time to prepare, so having it included in the all-inclusive package was a really nice surprise for me. 😄
A special shout-out to the bartenders we met, especially Lotfy, Mohamed, Mahmoud ×3, Romario, Maria, Khaled, and Ashraf, and many others whose names unfortunately slipped my mind.
The room service is very fast and efficient.
Whatever you ask for, you never feel like you are waiting for too long, and the team always tries their best to help.
Cleanliness is definitely one of the things that stood out to me the most.
At any time of the day and basically anywhere around the resort, you will find the place very clean and well maintained.
There are also several toilets distributed around the resort, and they were consistently clean.
As for safety, this is another point that deserves special mention.
I personally left my phone and wallet more than once, in different places around the resort. When I came back later, I found everything exactly where I had left it.
That gives you a great sense of security and peace of mind.
The Wi-Fi is available throughout almost the entire resort, and the connection is strong.
For anyone who needs to stay connected or use the internet regularly during their holiday, this is definitely a great advantage.
But if I had to choose the single most important thing about Meraki overall, it would be the people.
From the highest-level managers to the newest members of the staff, the way guests are treated is genuinely respectful and welcoming.
Something I noticed very clearly is that Egyptian guests are treated with the same respect and attention as foreign guests.
And this wasn’t just one isolated experience. It was something I noticed throughout the entire stay.
There are smiles everywhere, people are willing to help, and whenever a Manager or Supervisor sees a guest who needs assistance, they often step in personally instead of simply sending another staff member.
In my opinion, this is one of the biggest reasons why the Meraki experience feels different.
Last year, I personally felt that the Animation Team was not the strongest part of the resort.
This year, however, there has been a noticeable change.
The new team is much stronger and better, and the difference is very clear.
And once again, the same thing stood out to me: the team treats Egyptian guests with the same respect and attention as foreign guests.
For me, Meraki is one of those places that manages to combine two things that can sometimes feel completely opposite.
If you want to relax, disconnect, and simply enjoy some peace and quiet, you can absolutely do that.
But if you want music, dancing, fun, and a more energetic atmosphere, you will find that too.
You never feel like you have to choose between two completely different types of vacation.
The resort itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, but at the same time there is always life, energy, and something happening around you.
After 5 days and 4 nights, I can honestly say that what I will remember most about Meraki is not just the food, the rooms, or the bars…
It is the way the people treat you.
The smiles, the respect, the attention, and the willingness to help — from the highest-ranking manager to the newest member of the staff.
Whether it was the way they treated me, my wife, or other guests around us, that genuine hospitality was something we noticed throughout the entire stay.
And for me, that is more valuable than any luxury or decoration. Meraki was an excellent experience, and I am already planning to come back for my third stay next year. ❤️
Meraki is definitely a place worth coming back to every year.

Amazing stay at Meraki Resort, Egypt! We had such a fantastic time at Meraki Resort. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the whole experience was made even more special by the wonderful staff. A special thank you to our lovely staff member Memo, who was so friendly, kind and attentive throughout our stay.
Cons: Unfortunately, the biggest issue for us was the illness. Both of us, along with several other couples we spoke to, became seriously unwell with severe stomach problems during our stay. We are now home and are still experiencing symptoms, and our GP is currently testing us. Several other guests told us they had also been diagnosed or were being tested for E. coli. We obviously cannot say what caused the illness until our own test results are back, but the number of guests reporting very similar symptoms was concerning.
The entertainment and all-inclusive drinks policy was also disappointing. Most of the hotel’s parties are chargeable, and even at some of the events advertised as included, the party does not really get going until close to midnight. At midnight, all-inclusive drinks stop and you have to pay. On one occasion, there was even a manager positioned behind the bar with a tablet and card machine ready for exactly midnight, making sure guests were charged for drinks. At supposedly "free" events such as the White Party, reserved seating also comes at an additional cost.
One of the beach parties we attended also became quite unpleasant, with several fights breaking out between guests. Some bar staff became involved, and one member of staff appeared to sustain a head injury and needed medical attention.
The constant attention from the spa workers, excursion representatives and shop sellers was another major downside. We were repeatedly approached throughout the holiday and even had a "red flag" placed on our sun lounger, which did not stop the approaches. On one occasion, a spa worker continued to insist on touching us and giving us a "free" massage despite us making it very clear that we did not want one. My fiancée found this particularly uncomfortable, as we had clearly said no.
We stayed in a Merakilous Room, which is marketed as an upgraded room, but unfortunately ours felt tired and in need of some maintenance. The drawers were broken, and the shower head had a noticeable build-up of mould and limescale.
We also tried to get assistance from reception on several occasions regarding late checkout and other issues, but unfortunately found them largely unhelpful.
The drinks were very hit and miss. The spirits in particular had a strong chemical taste, and we were regularly given drinks that were not what we had ordered.
Ultimately, this had a huge impact on our holiday. We paid around £3,500 for the trip, but due to illness we missed a significant portion of the holiday and spent much of our time in the room rather than enjoying the resort.
Pros: The hotel grounds are attractive and generally very well maintained, and the pools were clean.
There are around six restaurants and a good selection of bars, so there is plenty of choice when everything is running normally.
A particular mention should go to one of the barmen in the lobby bar. He was excellent, remembered us almost immediately and provided some of the best service we received during our stay.
Overall, there are some genuinely good aspects to Meraki, particularly the grounds, pools, choice of restaurants and bars. However, our experience was seriously affected by the illness, the constant selling/approaches, the additional costs surrounding the entertainment and the lack of helpfulness from reception. Unfortunately, we left feeling that the holiday fell a long way short of what we expected for £3,500.
