We have just returned from the most wonderful 10 days in this beautiful hotel. From start to finish we were very impressed with the resort and the friendly staff who are always on hand for all your needs (Hi Hagag and my Habibi Karem) Our room and the resort on the whole was very clean and our (very modern) room had direct access to the lagoon which was perfect and with beautiful views. The food was very good quality and there is really something for everyone. The entertainment team are very friendly and offer a different range of activities every day. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we will hopefully return very soon. Thank you Steigenberger El Gouna for a fantastic holiday!
I was moved to this hotel because of substantial work being undertaken at my first choice hotel. As a non golfer, I was not pleased thinking I would sharing my holiday with numerous golf nuts. Nothing could be further from the choice, we met many non golfers from many different countries and had a superb time. Location - This 268 bed hotel is located in El Gouna, a relatively new development about a 30-45 min transfer time from Hurghada airport. Appearance- Very clean throughout the hotel.
Pools/Grounds - Hotel has 2 pools, a main pool where all the daily activities take place and a smaller quieter pool with swim up bar. Never had any problem getting a bed at any of the pools, and no need to get up at stupid o clock to reserve beds. The beds by the way are sturdy with thick mattresses on them and beach towels are provided to guests. The grounds are immaculate and very well maintained by a host of gardeners. Staff/Service - All the staff we came into contact with were warm friendly and helpful and probably the most pleasant team I have ever come across. It is wrong to pick out specific staff, but a few were truly outstanding. Maddona on reception was fantastic and sorted out all my little queries perfectly. Mina and Hagag servers at the buffet and the Rossini a la Carte were awesome and provided a first class service. Carol and Sam in the animation team were informative and encouraging without being pushy, and finally Ahmed from the lobby bar and roof top bar always remembered our drinks and helped my wife plough through the cocktail menu.
Food/Drinks - The main buffets were very good, always a choice of different meats, gish and freshly cooked pasta dishes. At breakfast eggs are cooked to order and the drinks were of good quality. The hotel has two A la Carte restaurants, Rossini a fine dining restaurant accessed by the hotel boat. We dined there many times and were never disappointed. The other resturant is Harumaki an Asian restaurant which costs just under 50,$US PP. I thought it would be a good idea to allow AI diners at least one free meal here, to see if it was to there taste, and then I would happily paid for ant subsequent visits,but as they don't, we did not make use of this restaurant. Bedroom - We had a huge room with plenty of wardrobe and draw space. We had a huge TV, a free safe, fridge full of don't drinks and water which is replenished daily. Air con was superb, and the room also had robes, slippers, ironing board and iron. Bathroom - A large bathroom with twin sinks, a huge shower with plenty of hot water. Toiletries are provided, as is a good hairdryer. Beach - The hotel is situated on a large lagoon and many canals, yhe lagoon has a well kept sandy beach with plenty of beds and umbrellas. The lagoon was our favourite place to sunbathe. Entertainment - The hotel provides the usual range of daily games/events etc and in the evening there are singers, shows and soloists. In common with every All Inclusive hotels I have been to, the standard is mixed, some great others not so . WiFi - Free throughout the hotel and good strength of signal at all times.
Taxes - There are no hotel taxes to pay but a visa is required, which costs 30$US pp. Contrary to popular thoughts do not bother to try and fill in the on line application form. Buy your visa on arrival, no paperwork required, no photos needed, just pay thevmoney and get a visa stuck in your passport. It takes seconds.
Hurghada Airport - Unlike the entry to Egypt, the exit is a nightmare so allow plenty of time at the airport. You cannot even enter the airport without your passport being checked. Following that we had to go through 3 further X ray and body searches before reaching our gate, it just takes ages.
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Steigenberger El Gouna Golf hotel. Its a great hotel, very clean and the staff are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and have a kettle and a Nespresso machine - only with 4 pods though, which is a shame for a two week holiday. The bathroom is large and comes with toiletries but my only comment would be separate shampoo and conditioner please. There is also a fridge with soft drinks and water.
The pools are nice, the relax pool especially quiet and the bar and pool staff are excellent. I used the well equipped gym too which is near the golf club - a short boat ride away.
La Rotisserie restaurant was very nice. The food was tasty and it is nice to be served to you at the table instead of the buffet restaurant. You can go here once a week and we would highly recommend booking.
The entertainment was ok. We really enjoyed the Circus and 80's night but we would have really liked a bit of a dance after the acts but the DJ just played music which sounded the same. I'm sure after the 80's night he could have played a selection and it would have got people up dancing!
Downtown and Abu Tig Marina is nice to visit of an evening. Just a short tuc tuc ride away and really cheap and readily available. Make the effort to go!
Three of our party are divers and they dived with ScubaWorld, who were excellent. Picked all of them up from the hotel and back again and they enjoyed the diving. I also went on a day boat trip as a snorkeller and was very lucky on my first trip to have one to one guidance of the reef and was so very lucky to also dive with dolphins, which was truly magical. Again, highly recommend Scubaworld.
The food in the restaurants is plentiful and caters for all tastes. Nice staff and again really clean and tidy.
One positive thing for me is having a two week break in Egypt and NOT being bitten by mosquitoes. Normally despite spraying myself daily I usually get bitten but not on this holiday!

The bar staff, restaurant, entertainment team, food, chefs… reception. All absolutely fantastic. Food is the best all inclusive we’ve ever eaten. It’s not like all inclusive! We’ve been to the Maldives numerous times and nothing comes close to this. Thank you so much for a fabulous time away!
