- Rihiveli Maldives Resort

Rihiveli, the Maldives' iconic, barefoot resort, after having undergone some recent renovations refurbishments and upgrades, is now rebranded as Rihiveli Maldives Resort, a 4-star property and welcomed its first guests under the new management in November 2021. Rihiveli is set on the stunning island of Mahaanaelhi Huraa in South Male Atoll and is accessible by a 45-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport. Unique to its surroundings are two Virgin Islands, both easily accessible on foot or by canoe and a dolphin lagoon – a dolphin breeding point with large pods of dolphins year-round where guests can swim or snorkel with them.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

The most relaxing place I have ever been. Don't go if you are looking for nightlife but, if you want total relaxation, nice food, fantastic snorkelling, and friendly staff, this is the place to go. Was slightly disappointed to be presented with a bill for the drinks we had before we left...apparently, as we had checked out in advance, the all inclusive was terminated. Felt a bit tight and took the gloss slightly off an incredible experience.
Never out for snorkeling It seemed like you, in the day the boat didn't go, one there was wind, one captain there wasn't one there wasn't gasoline in short, never went out !!! Then they always snorted if you registered the night before it was early, in the morning it In the past good island now a no good direction !
We just came back from 10 nights stay at Rihiveli and still processing our holidays memories. This by far is the best destination we have visited, the location is out of this world, the marine life is awesome but what made it for us is fantastic staff that looks after the guests from the moment you arrive at the airport. I want to do justice to this resort and hope to find the right words to describe how wonderful this holidays have been. Beach villa on sunrise side was our choice and luckily it was accommodated as per our request. We loved splashing about in the turquoise lagoon just outside the villa and when the sun was too much there was plenty of natural shade everywhere on the island. Villa had everything we needed and the bed/ pillows were super comfy. Special shout out to housekeeping who cleaned twice a day, replacing beach towels and water, surprising us with towel art and flowers 🙂 Water sports and diving teams are super friendly and accommodating, special mention to Maadde who is one of locals passionate about marine life, make sure you book snorkeling trip with him! We had all inclusive package and the choice of cocktails and drinks was more than enough, in 10 days I tried to work my way through the drinks list but failed, so you will have enough choice with soft and alcoholic drinks. Kiso would mix you a perfect cocktail served always with a smile. As for food- it was great! You’d normally start noticing repeated dishes after a while but here the f&b team made sure there’s great variety each day. Beef Stroganoff, Hungarian Goulash, Thai Green Curry, Fried Eggplants, fresh fish - lots of world cuisine dishes and all tastes are catered for. My fav desert- Coconut Crumble, unassuming looking dish but tasted divine, still craving it. We were also lucky to visit this resort during their annual staff football tournament and that was a great entertainment! White party and dancing on the beach under the stars was very special. Every night after dinner we walked to the end of jetty to look at the fish attracted by the light. Every morning you could see dolphins jumping in the lagoon nearby. 5pm is shark feeding time and you can watch stingrays and sharks battling it out for fish guts. If you’re looking for relaxed, friendly, not pretentious resort with genuine people and the most perfect colours and people working there- look no further, but keep it a secret, eh?! Because we will be back! Rihiveli, we loved every minute spent with you
If Paradise exists..this island is it! The most beautiful, natural, peaceful and stunning place! Such wonderful staff too My husband and I didn’t want to leave Our most precious and perfect holiday ever Will be returning and would not look anywhere else to stay in the Maldives. Our beach Willa was lovely with the most amazing bed and pillows! We slept so well! Snorkelling with sharks and turtles, breakfast with the Herons, and the resident Rihiveli bird Juliet Wonderful just wonderful
This island owes its mangificent beauty to its unspoilt nature: It is not overdeveloped, it has NO overwater villas, it has NO bridges that connect the islands (Sun Rise and Birds islands) and this is what makes this resort so special and different from other resorts. Sunrise Island can be reached by 15 min walk from Rihiveli. Nothing is built on this island (except wooden seats and tables) making it accessible for everyone to explore and enjoy it.
I appreciate that Rihiveli has been maintained so beautifully natural over the years and I hope it will continue this way.
There will be renovation happening this year and I heard that overwater villas are part of the plan. I hope that this is not true as disturbing Rihiveli’s nature would be truely devestating and heartbreaking.
