We loved Patina.
We have admittedly really high standards, and are frequent visitors to the Maldives, and our travel agent convinced us to try Patina for a change from our usual go-to hotel, mostly because of the boat rather than seaplane access. Patina did not disappoint, it was an excellent experience from airport arrival to (sad) airport departure.
From manager Anthony who is running a very well-oiled machine, to our butler Dubby, Ziyan who kept our villa looking beautiful, and all the amazing hospitality staff including Koris, Made, Roni, Mode, and Habibi, we felt incredibly well looked after the entire time. If you're into wellness, Geetha has excellent yoga classes, and is of a much higher level of experience and training than you often get to experience in resort stays.
They have the first all Maldivian high end degustation experience which we HIGHLY recommend. So much heart and soul has gone into it, and it provided a lovely sense of place to being in the Maldives. Chef Yogesh's food and all the stories were lovely.
We were hesitant to visit our first human-made island in the Maldives, as we always stay at natural islands, but the vegetation felt mature and the setting was beautiful and serene.
I would not hesitate to visit again, and it's right up there with our usual go-to destination (Soneva Fushi).
If you are looking to have a quieter atmosphere, you might want to look up Asian and Middle Eastern school holiday schedules and avoid those weeks. Everyone's children were lovely but there were a LOT of kids there when we were there, and we had left ours at home and would have preferred a quieter environment, but this was entirely our fault for not researching the time we were visiting. You can avoid it by enjoying your own pool villa at any rate.
We had a wonderful stay, and we would especially like to recognize Fubu for his outstanding service.
Wonderful experience Great staff Our essentialist was wonderful We enjoyed every moment including the wind and rain Hope to see you soon
On our last day, when our butler Arey asked about our vacation experience, I told him I’d give it a 99 out of 100—leaving that one point as encouragement for even greater excellence in the future. That said, Arey himself absolutely deserved a perfect score. He was very professional, and always responded with remarkable speed and clarity.
It was a real pity that he couldn’t see us off when we left, as he was attending to a group of guests checking in that day. This brings me to a small suggestion: whenever possible, please try to arrange for the butler to bid farewell to departing guests. I believe this is achievable, since arrival and departure schedules can typically be planned and coordinated in advance.
During our stay, the villa's air conditioning did have a minor issue, but the staff resolved it so quickly that it caused us very little inconvenience. And, in the outdoor deck area, two of the three ceiling fans were initially not working. Although they were repaired, one of them still cannot be turned off. The humid and hot climate does take a toll on electrical wiring, so it definitely requires more intensive maintenance.
Beyond that, our experience here was nothing short of perfect. There were so many outstanding staff members whose names I might not recall accurately—for instance, the two Chinese chefs at Wok Society, the barista at Portico Ibbu(?), the restaurant waitress Meisi, and countless others whose names escape me. In my view, the staff’s demeanor and service have seamlessly blended with the natural surroundings and the resort's unique architecture, creating a distinct and deeply comforting style. I have experienced very limited times quite like it. For this, I sincerely thank Patina Maldives for providing my family with a truly perfect holiday.
I honestly don’t even know where to start.
Patina Maldives is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. From the moment we landed in Malé, everything became so easy. The team took care of all the transfers and logistics, so we could just relax and enjoy our vacation without stressing about anything.
One thing that really stood out to me was how unbelievably clean the villas were. I’ve stayed at a lot of five-star hotels and resorts before, but I’ve never seen a place this spotless. You can tell they pay attention to every little detail, even the things guests probably don’t notice.
I also want to give a huge thank you to our Essentialist, Hajar. She was amazing from day one. We had an issue with our travel agency when we decided we wanted to extend our stay, and she stepped in and helped us sort everything out. She was always kind, patient, and genuinely cared about making sure we had the best experience possible.
The food was another highlight. There are so many restaurants to choose from, and every meal we had was delicious. It never felt repetitive because there was something different for everyone.
What made the biggest impression on me, though, was the people. Every staff member we met was friendly, welcoming, and always smiling. You could really see how well they work together, and that positive atmosphere made our stay even more enjoyable.
We left with so many great memories, and we’re already talking about coming back. I would happily recommend Patina Maldives to anyone looking for an unforgettable vacation.
