Mandarin Resort Bodrum

I write this review as we are waiting to get collected by our transfer. So let me start by saying before coming here I was nervous reading the reviews as let’s be honest they aren’t great, I was even considering changing hotel a few times. I am so glad I just gave it a go because we were overall very impressed. Some of the reviews don’t even make sense and I wonder if they are written about the correct hotel? Anyway, I will start by agreeing that this hotel is not 5 stars, if you come expecting the height of luxury you’ll be disappointed but if you’re looking for somewhere reasonably priced, good food, warm pools and a good location I think you’ll be happy!

Pools- good size, they get lovely and warm throughout the day. One pool has music and slides and the other has a smaller toddler pool and slide and more relaxed. I will say it would have been better to put both slides (toddler and main) in the same pool area as those with different age kids would find it difficult to be in 2 places at once. But it was fine for us as both kids were happy in the smaller pool.

Bar- I read that they don’t do cocktails, this is incorrect they do do them and have a full menu on the bar. They are nice we enjoyed them! They do nice non alcoholic drinks as well including a lovely iced caramel coffee too.

Food- we didn’t have a problem with the food but you do need to be brave and give stuff a try even if you don’t like the look of it, it tastes good! There was fresh chilled bottled water on the tables in the evenings too which was nice. The breakfast was nice, there was a chef cooking fresh omelettes each morning which taste amazing! Cereals, toast, yoghurts, fruit and cold meats and cheeses. My daughter was happy with the toast and chocolate spread and the cereals.

Entertainment- aside from the kids playground and pool there isn’t any entertainment. No kids disco and no reps trying to get you to join in with water polo, but honestly this suits us really well. If you’re looking for more things to do you may be disappointed with this aspect. We didn’t use the kids club so can’t comment on that.

Rooms- this is what let it down a bit, the rooms were quite tired, I did ask for an updated room prior to my arrival and they said they will issue us one but I don’t believe it was. My mums aircon constantly leaked they came to fix it a few times but didn’t ever stop and both our showers became blocked and flooded the room on several occasions, there were also other bits of the room that could have done with an upgrade. The one thing I will say is the travel cot was horrendous condition, completely unsafe and stained and the netting was ripped. I did need to go to the travel rep for this as reception didn’t understand the problem. This is the only problem we had. They unfortunately couldn’t get us another one but they did get us some more bedding to pad it out a bit. If you have a younger baby I would urge you to bring your own as if my son couldn’t move his own head he would have suffocated as he ended up under the mattress a couple of times.

WiFi- fine, works in the rooms as well as public areas.

Staff- really lovely staff, the restaurant staff couldn’t do enough to help. The bar man always remembered my daughter and made her a special drink, and the nurse who looked after my daughter when she cut her foot were all lovely. Couldn’t fault them!

Housekeeping- no problem here, we left valuables out daily such as iPads, expensive headphones, bank cards and nothing ever went missing.

All in all a great hotel and happy with our experience :)

Beautiful all inclusive hotel, 2 pools one quiet and one with slides and music, food is lovely and so much choice, pool bar is good serving beer,cocktails and soft drinks plus cakes in the afternoon. Staff are so helpful and friendly, location is perfect, I would highly recommend this hotel as stayed there myself several times with all the family and friends

Four adults travelled here staff were great this was our second visit. We decided to take a trip to Kos as per recommendations of our holiday guide. What a joke, please save your money on this and tip staff instead. Pick up was 8am bus driver arrived 15 mins early and wouldn’t wait for us to collect our lunch the hotel had made. Rude man . This was a 40 minute journey to Kos but we were nearly 4 hours on the ferry, kids tired on board, they were crying, toilet facilities were blocked, it was shocking. I texted holiday rep and kept blaming everyone, said it was some kind of a holiday celebration, if he knew this why sell it??? We cancelled our Turkish baths we had planned for the day after, said we wouldn’t be refunded if we put it up online, this happened last Wednesday and nothing…..,, Stay in hotel, save your money..
