This comfortable hotel is situated in Christ Church.
I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at The Abidah by Accra was deeply disappointing. While the hotel has some functional merits, the service level—specifically at the front desk—was unacceptable. To be fair, the room itself was clean and relatively comfortable. However, the rest of the facilities are very mediocre and do not justify the price point. If you are looking for a premium experience in Barbados, this is not it. The front desk staff was, frankly, horrible. At 2:45 PM—just 15 minutes before the official check-in time—I politely inquired if my room happened to be ready. One of the receptionists completely lost her temper and blew up at me. She was beyond rude, essentially telling me to "go fry chickens" elsewhere and stay away from her. I have never been spoken to with such hostility by hotel staff, let alone over a simple, standard inquiry. It is clear that professional hospitality is not a priority here. Between the subpar facilities and the shocking lack of basic respect from the staff, this hotel is absolutely not worth the money. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.
Luckily we were only there for two nights before a cruise but the hotel was disappointing and not worth the price we paid. The pool was shut all day and there were no pool towels until late morning. The food was uninspiring and there was very little choice. Although there were bottles of branded spirits on the bar shelves the drinks were served out of unbranded bottles and they often ran out. The rooms were very generous in size but starting to look a bit tired. The tv which should have been wall mounted was propped up on the dressing table. This could be a lovely little boutique hotel but it needs some work to get there. Staff were generally very helpful.
Great location... 2 house walk to beach. Lots of umbrellas, but best to swim further down. Great ocean views. Nice quaint small pool. Very modern renos. Clean. Boutique. Adults only. All inclusive. Nice size balcony with a hottub!. Huge modern rooms with separate toilet room which is always welcome. Little kitchen counter with hightop chairs. I really enjoyed this place the most in my 2 months stay in Barbados (which I went to to get out of the hole I originally booked, Rosalie Apartments) out of the total 4 places I stayed at. The food/buffet was OK. The coffee was great:) The service was friendly and professional. 8 minute walk to Oistens. 24 hour security guard. 24/7 gym. Reasonably priced , comparatively speaking for Barbados.
I booked a stay at Abidah by Accra to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a relaxing getaway. The location was beautiful, and I especially loved the ocean view from my room.
Staff: Upon my arrival, the receptionist was pleasant, and Neil was especially kind in arranging lunch for me, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience at breakfast the following morning was quite different. I observed two staff members warmly assisting other guests, clearing their tables and interacting with them with smiles while I felt overlooked. After waiting for some time, I was finally acknowledged. It was disappointing, as I expected a more welcoming and attentive experience.
Food: The food did not meet my expectations. I found it to be subpar and chose to dine off-site for most of my meals.
Room: My room was beautiful, and I enjoyed having a suite with a hot tub. However, when I first checked in, I noticed particles in the tub and had to request that it be drained and cleaned before I could use it.
The biggest issue during my stay was the air conditioning. It repeatedly stopped working and had to be reset multiple times. Over the course of my four-day stay, I contacted the front desk approximately six or seven times because the suite became uncomfortably warm. Although the staff reset the system each time, the problem continued to recur a few hours later, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy my stay.
I’ve been trying to write this for two months,
With little time I’m putting it down as it comes, no particular order.
Thank you ‘Sharon’. ‘Joy’. ‘Dashia’. ‘Barman Andreah’. The four of you deserve a medal.
Not what we expected.
This is a 3 star hotel. Which might come as a shock to the owners/managers.
Everything is run down and scruffy. Decor was great at one time but now its way past its best. Too many things not working correctly. Fittings broken and missing, eg Light outside our room door, Decorative panels in the reception, and many more. The shower mixer and on/off not working correctly. The bath towels are not even full size. The hotel states a dress code for dinner then fails to enforce it. There is no hand soap in the bathroom, and they won’t provide any, you have to go to the toilet to get soap. The wardrobe doors are falling off and won’t close. The drawers just as bad. No bath robes, despite saying there was. The cutlery is not matching. It’s a hodgepodge of several sets, and they never lay two tables the same at the same sitting, and at times there are even different settings at the same table. Toilet doors downstairs lobby. Gents - the cubicle doors do not lock. Ladies - two of the three cubicles don't even have a lock, and too often no towels in either dispenser. Bedside USB sockets not working. Rubbish in areas frequented by guests. All-inclusive adults only hotel and the bar shuts at 10.30pm! Beach sunbeds, there is a handful… and the beach is 150m up the road, that runs between the hotel and the beach! Balcony not mopped in 9 days. Sticky patch on the floor and table from previous guests. Pool loungers falling apart and ripped. Exposed electric cables in the pool area. One easy chair in a room for two people. Food order, too frequently taken incorrectly. Resulting in food brought out you didn’t order or want.
An example of a meal…
Dinner advertised for 6.30pm (Semi al a carte). Sat waiting until 6.58pm until the soup came out; but no soup bowls until we had to ask for them. Then approached with the news that the menu we ordered from at 6.40pm was the wrong one and we now had to order from a new menu. The bread came out at 7.06pm. The sauces brought out at 7.18pm. Bread advertised as an artist of bread... same brioche style bun every day. Dinner arrived at 7.22pm. And bizarrely they never ever have any plates or bowls at the dessert station; you have to go to the salad station to get those. (Smacks of not being able to organise a p*ss-up in a brewery.)
On a positive note they fixed the hot-tub quickly. (While other guests didn’t get their hot-tub fixed for the duration of their stay.)
