EVERYTHING was AMAZING! From the first smile Randy gave to the last helpful gesture he made we were well taken care of! The atmosphere was beautiful, refreshing and very relaxing! The staff was so attentive and accommodating!
The rooms at nonsuch are exceptionally beautiful, luxurious and have all you would expect and more. Each has a balcony with outdoor bath and shower and a cold plunge pool. The restaurant is good and breakfasts excellent. The staff in the restaurant were wonderful too. It’s on the North coast so hiring a car is a good idea as you can’t walk anywhere. The beach is quite a way away. The pool is next to the restaurant so accessible but not that private. As part of our stay we had some memorable trips. The stand out being a boat trip to a private island with Hamper delights and delicious food and drink. There are some private tables down on the harbour and they are adorable to visit.
We have just returned from a ten night stay at The Escape and cannot recommend it highly enough. Our room was clean & comfortable with superb views over the bay from our own plunge pool. The restaurant food was plentiful and very tasty with a good choice of dishes each day, complimented by the adjoining bar serving a good choice of beer, wine, spirits & cocktails. Whilst the hotel is situated in a secluded part of the island with limited local amenities we were able to book various trips via the hotel including Shirley Heights, Nelson’s Dockyard and the beautiful Green Island to snorkel with the turtles. The best part for us though was relaxing around the pool and being it is a small boutique hotel you cannot fail to meet and form new friendships. Finally we’d like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful staff who were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay, especially Maxine, Hannah, Enrique, Charles & Henry who all made our stay very special. We will be back in the future.
The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is a stunning, peaceful retreat and the rooms are absolutely fantastic — the plunge pool suites are a real highlight, offering privacy, comfort and breathtaking views that genuinely make this feel like a special getaway. The staff are, for the most part, wonderfully warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the resort. It is worth noting that on occasion one or two team members can come across as a little abrupt, though this was very much the exception rather than the rule. The bar is well run and perfectly sufficient for the size of the resort — no complaints there at all. However, on the subject of value for money, we felt the food offering did not quite match the premium all-inclusive price point. Both the lunch and dinner menus are notably restrictive, offering only 2 to 3 starters and 3 main courses — which, whilst freshly prepared, left us wanting more variety. For guests staying longer than a week, be aware that the menu rotates weekly, meaning you may find yourself faced with identical choices in your second week. The highlight of the dining experience is undoubtedly the weekly BBQ buffet evening, which offers a welcome change of pace and a much wider selection — thoroughly enjoyable and something the resort could perhaps consider offering more frequently. There are several practical points worth flagging for future guests. Mosquitoes can be a real issue in the evening. The hotel does fumigate two to three times per week, which is appreciated, but given the resort's natural surroundings it may be worth exploring additional measures. There is no shop nearby, so we would strongly recommend packing mosquito repellent and sun cream before you travel — you will not easily find either once you arrive. On the subject of getting around, we would strongly advise hiring a rental car for the duration of your stay. All transport to local attractions, restaurants and excursions beyond the resort relies entirely on taxis, which can quickly become expensive, particularly if you plan to explore the island during your stay. A rental car gives you the freedom to explore Antigua at your own pace and at a fraction of the cost of repeated taxi journeys. Overall, The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is a genuinely lovely resort with beautiful rooms and a wonderful setting. With a more varied menu, some additional mosquito management in the evenings, and a rental car to hand, you will be well placed to get the very best out of this hidden Caribbean gem.
My stay at The Escape at Nonsuch Bay was absolutely incredible from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a peaceful, adults-only all-inclusive resort to truly relax and disconnect, this is the place.
The resort is beautifully maintained, with stunning views of the bay and a quiet, intimate atmosphere that never felt crowded. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and having a private plunge pool made the experience even more special.
The staff were exceptional—warm, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
The food was fresh and flavorful, with a nice variety of options throughout our stay. We also loved taking advantage of the complimentary water activities, and the resort’s location made it easy to explore Antigua through excursions like Shirley Heights, the Rum Academy, and the St. Mary’s Mud Buggy Adventure.
Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, or simply need a relaxing getaway, The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is the perfect destination. I left feeling refreshed, recharged, and already planning my next visit.
I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a luxurious and tranquil Caribbean escape. Antigua truly stole my heart!
