Steigenberger Aldau Beach Hotel in Hurghada is hands down one of the best resorts we’ve ever stayed at—and my husband and I are pretty picky about where we vacation! From the moment we checked into our Deluxe Sea View room, we were blown away by the impeccable service and lush, immaculately maintained grounds. The massive pool landscape (including that incredible lazy river) is an absolute dream to lounge around, and the food across their a la carte restaurants blew the standard all-inclusive buffet experience out of the water. While the hotel itself made it hard to leave, we did want to explore a bit of Egypt, and I am so glad we decided to book our trips outside the resort. Instead of going with the overpriced hotel reps, we booked through a local company called Sheriff Egypt, which is super easy to find by name right online. Their prices are genuinely much lower than what the hotel guides charge, and the level of service was top-notch from start to finish. We decided to do an individual trip to Cairo, and it was easily the highlight of our entire vacation. Having a private program meant we could move at our own pace without dealing with a crowded tour bus. Our private guide was fantastic—he spoke brilliant English, was an absolute wealth of knowledge about ancient history, and made sure we felt completely taken care of all day. Plus, the ride there and back was extremely comfortable because they provided a brand-new 2026 model minibus with great AC and plenty of legroom. We also booked a sea excursion through them for a city and snorkeling day around Hurghada, and that was just as impressive. The yacht we went out on was brand new, spotlessly clean, and felt very high-end. The crew and guides on board were wonderful, spoke great English, and made sure everyone had a great time out on the water. If you're heading to Hurghada and want luxury resort vibes paired with reliable, reasonably priced local excursions, look up Sheriff Egypt online—you won't regret it!
Everything was very good from the beginning! When we arrived to the hotel in the morning at around 3-4 am they waited us and carried our luggages and they sent food to our room while we took a shower and cleaned ourselves from the travel. The food and the surrounding also the hotel itself stunning ! Everyone was kind and helpful to us !! I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
Best resort ever and the best hospitality and cleanliness
We stayed for a week as a family and had a wonderful holiday overall. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the grounds are immaculate, and the staff throughout the resort were excellent, friendly, attentive and always willing to help.
The food was of a good standard with plenty of choice, although as vegetarians we found it became quite repetitive after a few days. It would be great to see more vegetarian dishes or at least some variation between days to keep things interesting.
The à la carte restaurants were all fantastic. We tried Alex, the Sushi restaurant and the Italian, and each one offered excellent food and service. They’re well worth booking during your stay.
The bar staff also deserve a special mention. They were consistently friendly, hardworking and provided excellent service. The only slight disappointment was the drinks themselves. The cocktails and house spirits were a little rough for our taste. Even offering a small selection of basic international brands, not premium or expensive ones, or sourcing better quality local brands, would noticeably improve the experience. In the end, I found myself sticking to beer for most of the holiday.
The only reason I’m giving 4 rather than 5 stars is the design of the family suite bathroom. The shower and toilet are separated from the room by a semi-transparent glass door. It’s a baffling design choice in a family room. If you’re travelling with children or other family members, privacy is limited, and it just feels awkward.
During our stay, the minibar attendant entered to restock the minibar while my wife was in the shower. He was simply doing his job and this is not a criticism of him. The issue is that the minibar is in the direct line of sight of the bathroom door. Because of the semi-transparent glass, it left my wife feeling uncomfortable for the rest of the holiday. This is a design flaw, not a staff issue.
If replacing the doors isn’t practical, the hotel should at least consider adding an opaque film or lining to the glass. It would provide much-needed privacy and make family suites far more comfortable.
Despite those issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The staff are a real credit to the hotel, and with a few relatively small improvements, more variety for vegetarians, better privacy in family suites, and an upgrade to either the quality of the local spirits or the availability of a few basic international brands, this would easily be a five-star experience.
Have to say this place is stunning- beautiful grounds, room etc. However, it is proving to be a huge disappointment in a few areas. Yes the staff are friendly but that's only if you can get their attention or are in their favour. The bar service around the pool is terrible. To the point after an hour we went to get out own drinks. For a hotel this size we cannot believe that there is only one bar serving the whole pool area. Definitely needs to have more staff doing this waiter service to go to all guests. We have no issues getting our own drinks but again one bar often meant quite a hike from wherever you were lucky enough to find a sun lounger. We didn't venture to the beach only to get towels as no one at the towel hut by the pool, so can't comment on the bar/waiter service there. Then onto the main buffet in the Tamarind restaurant. Yes plenty of choice but a lot of items are not labelled. We liked the separate area for adults, however we experienced the same service issues here, having to get our own drinks, cutlery and napkins. Not what we'd expect from a 5 star hotel at all. The hot food being grilled for you is so badly organized and people are crammed together so it's a free for all with no queues or order at all. You could be standing waiting your turn for the food to be given to others talking to the chefs - how is that fair?Also, we sat down for breakfast on our first morning to find tomato seeds and juice dried up the wall next to us not a good first impression. Service in smaller bars was noticeably better again proving to us staff are extremely overstretched to cover the huge volume of guests. We are truly saddened that this hotel hasn't met our expectations - raised by the glowing reviews on this site. Perhaps our standards are different but for the price, there are many more hotels we'd chose over this one. This is just our opinion from our experience and observations.
