Perfect for four night break for friends 'special' birthday. Plenty to see in town and around the Island. Booked Bolt cars for our trips. The hotel is up a steep roads from town so need to be fairly fit or get taxis.
Lovely clean hotal and Spa, great food and cocktail bar. Loved the breakfast buffets. Very spacious with lovely friendly/helpful staff. Complimentary bottle of Madeira wine in bedrooms on arrival.

Modern, safe hotel with a pool and lovely spa. Perfect for a girlie break.

I would most definitely return to this hotel. The location  was perfect for us as it was very quiet. It was 20 min walk to cable car and just 15 min walk down to the promenade. The hill back up was a killer. Cabs were reasonable so we used them daily. Staff were very attentive. Food at the pool bar was excellent. There was lots of choice at breakfast but unfortunately the cooked food wasn't kept at a hot temperature. Plates weren't kept hot so by the time u got back to ur table breakfast was bordering on cold. This is my only criticism. The pool was lovely size. The spa was amazing and so lucky to have this at the hotel.
 Bruno bar manager stood out from the rest by giving us lots of attention and was able to give us lots of recommendations on places to eat.

Great Location, great Hotel

My partner and I stayed at The Views Baía Hotel from Saturday, 10 May to Thursday, 15 May, and while the hotel had several positive aspects, a number of avoidable shortcomings prevented our experience from being truly memorable.

Check-In & First Impressions:
Unfortunately, our stay got off to a poor start. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a blunt “Passports” from the front desk staff, with little to no further conversation apart from a brief mention of the visitor tax and the optional no-cleaning policy. I had to prompt questions regarding things like hotel parking, and overall, the interaction felt cold and transactional. A smile or even a “welcome” after a long day of travel would have gone a long way. Sadly, the check-out experience was almost identical—no inquiry about our stay or any farewell, just a bill and a goodbye.

Service & Amenities:
There were a few puzzling service moments during our stay. When we asked for an iron and ironing board, we were told that a single iron was available—but only in a service room on the 3rd floor of this 11-floor hotel, and it couldn't be brought to the room. Another odd instance involved a staff member knocking repeatedly just to hand over a single wrapped chocolate—nice idea, but a little overbearing in delivery. On balance the whole hotel was modern and well cleaned/maintained. 

Room Comfort:
Our deluxe room was comfortable in size and came with a few “extras,” like a 15% discount off the final bill and access to a reserved breakfast area. However, the air conditioning didn't work properly, never cooling the room below 24°C even when set to 16°C. We ended up sleeping with the balcony door open most nights, listening to barking dogs and buzzing mopeds—hardly the restful retreat we had hoped for.

Breakfast Experience:
The deluxe room included access to a separate breakfast space and an exclusive a la carte menu. While this sounded promising, the food quality didn't live up to expectations. The dishes didn’t match the descriptions well, and for some reason, everything seemed to come with berries, regardless of the item. The effort to make it feel exclusive was noticeable, but the execution fell short.

Unique Feature – No Cleaning Discount:
One feature we did appreciate was the hotel’s “no cleaning days” option. Guests can opt out of housekeeping and receive a small credit (3 euros per day, during our visit) off the final bill. It's a thoughtful, eco-conscious touch that also gives guests a bit more control over their stay.

Final Thoughts:
Overall, The Views Baía has potential—it’s well-situated, the facilities are modern, and the “no cleaning” discount was a unique perk. However, the lack of warmth in service, combined with a few service and comfort issues, kept this from being the relaxing and special stay we had hoped for. With more attention to guest experience and hospitality basics, this could be a standout hotel.

A Decent Stay with Some Unfortunate Oversights

A truly fantastic hotel in Funchal. Gorgeous views, service and food. The rooms are very quiet and private, with very modern decor and facilities. A lovely selection of toiletries are provided in the bathroom. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds are huge and they provide a great selection of refreshments. The breakfast is the best we had on the island from a hotel. The staff and service is amazing - super helpful, informative and friendly.

Great hotel in Funchal! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this hotel and 100% recommend. The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond to help us. The views are amazing, breakfast was great and the showers were nice and powerful (important things!). We didn’t have a sea view, but we still had a beautiful view of the town and the castle on the hill from our room. It’s only a 15 minute walk into Funchal centre, the hill is steep so my mom got a taxi sometimes, but this was only 5 euros. We ate a couple times from the bar, which we also enjoyed and I had a chocolate wine cocktail which was delicious. We definitely want to go back there. :)

Amazing!!
