We were soo looking forward to our holiday here, and reading the reviews we were guaranteed to enjoy and relax… or so we thought.
The hotel as a whole is okish, from the get go on arrival we went to the snack bar as dinner wasn’t serving till 7:30, uncovered food (ham dry on edges and curling up) … we gave it to the cats… oh well let’s have a cocktail drink ( now been on all inclusives 2 last year) I knew the alcohol wasn’t going to be strong, but whatever we got didn’t taste anything like it should…. So hey the beer should taste ok… wrong, so we ended up buying drink in and going out every night (usually through the day as well) lunch and evening meal was also not the best so I’m sorry to say my bank card was hammered a lot more than I was expecting with eating out (the restaurant waiters were nice and polite with a smile always on their faces so credit to the staff has got to be given in this instance)
On the first night I found the aircon didn’t work (temperature in room was never below 26/27c )so I asked 4 days in a row(5times) in total to have it fixed, we eventually were/ had to move at 10:30 on the 5th night to a different room, with a view over the bins and flies filling the room.. to be honest a 9€ desktop fan would have solved the issue in the original room for us, this would have won us over a bit.
Did we complain about the drinks (yes but we were looked at blankly)
Did we complain about the food (well I think if the management maybe popped into the eating area and asked the people what do you think, they would be surprised at some candid answers, most even in cheap restaurants the staff walk round with a courtesy query of is everything ok)
Did we complain about the rooms aircon (yes but come one asking once in a 3 or 4 star hotel should have been enough to repair or offer a solution)

I really wanted to love this place, but seeing my partner’s upset face after 30mins means I wouldn’t be coming back here.
Other things to note is the beach is untidy (you are even expected to pay 3€ per sun lounger on the beach) and Location of the hotel wise is nowhere near anything, great there is a bus stop out the front but good luck trying to catch a bus… and the time table for that is basically none existent. So 10€ to Kos town or 17€ to Tigaki each way in a taxi will need to be factored into your holiday budget as well eating and buying some drinks in if wanting to let your hair down.After getting back we really do need to take another holiday.

Our stay at Atlantica Thalassa Hotel was a mix of highs and lows, with one major disappointment standing out: the reception staff. From the moment we arrived, we were met with cold, unwelcoming attitudes. Basic questions were answered with irritation, almost as if we were bothering them. There was a clear lack of professionalism, warmth, or any effort to make guests feel comfortable or informed. For a hotel under a well-known chain, the reception service was shockingly poor and far from what one would expect.

Thankfully, there was one shining light during our stay – the Greek housekeeper from Kalymnos. She was an absolute gem. Always smiling, genuinely kind, hardworking, and attentive to every detail. Our room was spotless every day, and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Her warmth and dedication were unmatched and truly made a difference in our experience.

It’s a shame that someone so professional and caring works behind the scenes, while the front desk – the face of the hotel – sets such a negative tone. If we ever returned, it would be solely because of that amazing woman. The hotel should seriously consider who represents them at the front line and take notes from their incredible housekeeper.

Holidays

Hotel:

There is free wifi around the hotel which is great and works really well. We stayed for 11 nights, initially for the first half the hotel was pretty quiet but this got notably busier in the second half. We noticed a big difference when the hotel got busier. Some of the differences were to do with the hotel but also it seemed that some of it was rude guests. 

There appears to be a kids club but as we don’t have children I can’t comment on this. The animation team do a great job, they go round and talk to everyone and put on activities throughout the day. It’s clear they have a fairly low budget as evening entertainment was a band on twice, greek dancers and then other evenings were quizzes/karaoke/just music being played but this only lasted from 9.30-10.30pm or maybe 11pm. There is a board near the snack bar displaying a list of what is happening through the day. 

Food and drink:

The buffet had a small selection, but it was always a good selection and we could always find something we liked. The food was well cooked and the snack bar served snacks from 12-5.30pm ish. I do have to say that we did find the quality of the food reduce throughout the holiday. 

The drinks choices were poor. They only have local spirits but not a big selection, so don’t expect a lot of choice. This really let the hotel down for us. Then, during the second half of the holiday they appeared to switch the spirits out for even cheaper ones. The amaretto I had been drinking changed to an undrinkable cheap drink that tasted nothing like Amaretto despite it coming from a bottle showing it was Amaretto. The vodka brand also appeared to change and became a strong cheap taste. Also, they do not do bottled water. There are water machines but you need to supply your own bottle. We ended up buying some from the shop in the hotel and then went to the supermarket in Kos town for some more, but this is the first AI hotel we have been to that doesn’t supply bottles of water. It was great that the pool bar does Ice cream throughout the day.

Pool:

There are 2 pools, one larger one with a smaller kids one next to it. The pool was pretty cold initially but did appear to warm a bit as the holiday went on. I would imagine in the height of summer it may get pleasant. We must have dropped lucky because no one reserved sun loungers and we could always get one throughout at any time of day. The main pool isn’t big enough for the amount of children on inflatables though.

Location:

The hotel is a bit out of the way, but we knew this on booking. There is a lovely section of beach infront of the hotel although no bar here and it us mainly shingle- the loungers here are €3 for the day but the beach never had anyone on it and no one to take payment. There is a bus outside the hotel drive which goes to Kos town or you can walk in about 45 minutes at a relaxed pace. We also walked to the Asklepion which was about a 1.5 hour walk but perfectly manageable - if you want to go don’t pay the silly prices for a tour operator tour.

Rooms:

The hotel has recently had some upgrades and the rooms are really stylish. The walls are paper thin, so we were really aware of noise we made as we came back at night so we didn’t disturb anyone. We had a room on the 1st floor over looking the pool which was great. I would imagine the rooms looking inland don’t have as nice view. Also, be aware the hotel is over 3 floors. There are no lifts and no one to carry your cases up/down the stairs. 

Overall:

We have stayed at Atlantica hotels before so had an idea what to expect. This hotel is quite small, and I think it would work better as an adults only. A lot of the guests were just adults, and aside from playing in the pool there wasn’t anything else to entertain kids. 

I’m not sure if we would come back, although overall it was great, the quality of drinks and the drop in the standard of food when it got busy was really poor.

A decent hotel…

We are impressed with the friendly staff. Cleanliness of our room. We arrived and we were allocated ground floor room without asking due to TUI not informing the hotel we had a disability. That first welcome continued throughout our stay, always greeted by everyone who worked at the hotel. Even the General Manager assisted as we had a bar bill added to our room that we didn't consume. He promptly sorted it out and cancelled the charge. This is an excellent small hotel and we will be back. Thankyou

Great small hotel to stay at.

Hotel room was lovely comfy beds and soft pillows room service was amazing everything was cleaned and food here was expectional and staff here was very respectful and kind especially Maria she was fantastic always friendly at reception and overall would highly recommend anyone to come visit this hotel in Kos Greece and on checkout day you get your lunch and dinner included all for free.

Phenomenal and best hotel 🏨

It is located in the North Region of the island, in the area called Lambi. Also, reaching the city from Lambi Str. is as easy as pie since public transportation is available every 5 to 10 minutes.
Its 24km away from the National Airport of Kos "Hippocrates" (KGS)and 4 km from city of Kos.
