Overall its  5-Star review ... arrived around 1pm, but rooms weren't ready immediatetly, but hotel staff were good at looking after us. All staff were courtious and attentful. excellent security and ability to grab taxis at a moments notice too. Pool area is excellent, Lunch options were great and rooms were spotless !!! Great stay ! Location is perfect for bars/clubs and also CArrefour is 10mins walk away

Amazing Stay all round

This hotel isnt a 5 star hotel and more like a good 4 star hotel. The only sign of a 5 star was the doormen opening the door. Oh yes it has 24 hour room service, which you have the privilege of paying £15 delivery charge. We have stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels and they send an email response, in a timely manner. However I contacted the hotel prior to arrive and I had to send multiple emails before they responded, if you're lucky. However sometimes they action your emails, but dont inform you. There is no map of the hotel complex and there is a Sofitel Marrakech app available on the play store. It would be useful to have a map with details of the hotels restaurants etc. There was a golf event outside our room on Saturday evening and when we opened our patio door to go onto the balcony, we had people from the event on our balcony. Any true 5 star hotel would of put a note under our door, advising the noise from the event until 11pm, even a free drink as compensation for the inconvenience caused.

On the day of arriving at the hotel, the receptionist asked us to sit and wait, even though there was six people behind the reception desk, only one person seemed to be working. Forty five minutes later, the receptionist asked for our passports and we begin our slow checkin procedure. Generally there is a lot of staff at the hotel, but they not very attentive, except for the Breakfast service.

Breakfast - we was amazed by the wide selection of food. Numerous staff, all of which were very attentive and helpful. As soon as our plates were empty, the staff took the plates away and continually topped up our orange juice. Instead of the normal coffee, we asked for cappuccino which they were more and happy to provide.

Security - you feel secure in the hotel. There is security people at the gates to the hotel. If however you go to the local supermarket, then the security guards will check your bags when you arrive back at the hotel, so hide any alcohol in the bags.

General information - in Marrakech they speak mainly French or Arabic. However in the Sofitel hotel, they speak mainly French. Outside the hotel, the local roads are very clean and tidy. In fact, there is a police car outside the hotel and at every roundabout and major junction. The price of alcohol in the hotel restaurant / bars is extremely expensive. The security guards on the gate, will call you a taxi, but it's best to agree the taxi ride fee before you get into the taxi.

Negative - people are allowed to take glass and glass bottle beer into the main pool and infinity pool, every day. We saw this happening on numerous times, the staff passing glass beer bottles to people in the pool and took photos daily, in case the hotel management disputes this behaviour.

Would we stay at the Sofitel again, we'll probably but we would request rooms 254 or 255.

Friendly hotel with helpful staff.
The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, which made for a welcoming stay. However, the rooms—though contemporary in style—could use some updating. Our room faced a busy street and lacked any notable view. Housekeeping was slow, and the amenities provided were quite limited, including towels and complimentary water. That said, the location is excellent and truly hard to beat.

Pleasant

We stayed three nights with a tour.  The room was large with excellent ac, but the lighting was poor.  It was quiet and the breakfast was excellent.  The main criticism other than the lighting was that on the second day, the cleaner did not leave new bath towels.  I requested new towels from the front desk and when that did not work, from the concierge.  No action.  Finally, a third visit to the front desk resulted in towels being delivered.  Next day, again no bath towels.  This time I went to a cleaner in the hall and got fresh towels.  Seems like a poor level of service from a Sofitel.

Questionable Service for a Sofitel

Accor members are not given proper attention.
At check-in, I requested a room upgrade if available, but I was informed that the hotel was fully booked. However, my friend, who checked in an hour after me, received an upgrade.
The indoor pool access costs 250, which is not acceptable for a 5-star hotel.
Unfortunately, when I wanted to pay using my points, the staff initially tried to prevent me from doing so. Only after a long discussion was it finally accepted.
I’m very disappointed and don’t see any real value in being a part of the Accor family.

A very bad experience

Built like a Moorish palace, the 5-star Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial combines oriental hospitality and French lifestyle.
